Didn't I mention the severe bloat and resource hog issues already Smiley_emoticons_wink And UAC for that matter? Smiley_emoticons_biggrin

I did forget the "user" friendly part of it, because to me almost anything on a computer is "user friendly".. I just "get it". But looking at it from the PoV of a customer, Syber is right. It isn't very user friendly.

ahem

I know you already mentioned them, uber-nerd. Smiley_emoticons_wink

I was just agreeing with you and adding my own comments.

UAC is disabled on mine. I guess I'm just not that nitpicky when it comes to the indistinguishable (to me) micro milliseconds difference between fast and ultra fast machines.

Mine doesn't crash or lose shit. It does what I want it to so I'm not complaining.

Of course this may be due to the fact that I'm religious about running my maintainence programs.

Well, we're not talking milliseconds Smiley_emoticons_wink we're talking measurable time for many things. However, you're also a bit smarter than the average moron... which is likely why you have less issues.

And there are good things about Vista, don't get me wrong. Just not enough to offset the bad for me. I have high hopes for Win7, and I wish I had been able to participate in it's beta testing. I was a longhorn (Original Code Name for Vista Beta releases) beta tester. And yes, the final product is far beyond the original beta Smiley_emoticons_wink I still have 4 or 5 different beta versions laying around if anyone wants them Smiley_emoticons_razz

I've got an HP Pavilion 64 bit running on Vista Premium... how would that work with Windows 7?

I haven't tried to find the resource stats for Win7 yet, so I don't know if it's going to be a 'hog' like Vista or not (I'm hoping they have improved the efficiency of the OS).

64-bit, you're probably going to be ok, but it really depends on what processor you actually have, how fast it is and how much RAM you have.

In any case, I would hope that if you're running Vista now, your computer would perform better with Win7 (although I would recommend completely formatting your harddrive before installing Win7, to get rid of the Vista bloat).

Now see, that's why I'm leaning towards not even having it on mine...Fuck it...I intend to get a desktop around the holidays so, I'll just wait and experience it then...I want one of those big ass monitor screens badly...I've never owned anything other than Dell, I hope I don't make a bad choice.

I second that, and would further state that it is always the better option. You can get rid of a lot of bloat in any OS by doing this.
