I find people I know in real life much more bothersome than most people I run into online. Real life fascination is harder to avoid, I think. Online interest is usually overblown and mostly imagined.
I have a few people in my circle who were virtual then turned real. Harder to shake some of them because they are more used to sending you words when you stop talking to them.

This isn't about me. The topic was inspired by the nosiness I've seen online & in person.
I wouldn't call it a catbird seat, email addresses are a dime a dozen & anyone with some tech ability is capable of other things so no, there is no catbird seat.

While in GA me, my brother and my nephew went to the diner to get something to eat. This lady was STARING at my brother. I STARED right back at her and was thisclose to sayin "what? you've never seen a younger man using a cane before?? isn't it bad enough he has to use one without you staring at him???" When she saw me give her a dirty look, she got all red and looked away. She was clearly old enough to know better than to stare.
