I too do not understand how LE didn't look under the porch in the beginning and didn't detect the smell of the body in the past 7 days.

the body was BADLY burned.
it could have been moved once or twice to where there had already been searches.

ah man, burned....that poor baby. How could that asshole move the body without someone noticing though? I thought the cops were all over the house and the mother was there.

Well that was very disheartening.

The houses on this rez must be on some acreage for the boyfriend to be able to burn Carnel's body and no one noticed. I read that neighbors smelled "BBQ" the night Carnel went missing. It takes a long time to burn a human body, did this asshat kill him shortly after Jaimee left for work?

If the body was moved, who would have moved it? I know Anthony Bennett was not in custody, but wasn't anyone even watching him? If he didn't move the body, then who did? Do we have accessories after the fact in this case?

i thought he was being watched also. i don't know if it's inexperienced tribal police or what the situation. in fact i thought FBI was in.
all i know is this mother was aware her son was being abused by her dirtbag/fuckboy. when is the last time with 100% surety the boy was seen alive by a non-relative? i think a neighbor saw him, but i don't trust eyewitnesses for days and times.
even burned, cadaver dogs would have hit if that body was there initially. that's why i thought he had to have been moved.
i hope we get more information as they sort this out.

Kevin Chamberlain, the tribe's former chief who is a cousin of Carnel's mother, Jaimee Chamberlain, said he had no details about what led investigators back to the house after many days of searching woods, ponds and the tribe's wastewater treatment areas.

The body "had to be in a grave. We had looked underneath before and didn't see anything," he said.

me:
which means they didn't use CADAVER dogs the first time.

Every time I read one of these stories I think it's the saddest story ever & along comes another that is even more awful.

I don't know how some of you get right into the center of these cases & remain "okay". This stuff plays like it's on a reel in my mind.

I didn't think it could get worse, but hearing his little body was burned just made it so.

Remember 'Last of the Mohicans' when they burn the British officer at the stake? It'd be nice to see this tribe dispense the same kind of justice toward this animal.

(CBS/AP) MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - A man was charged Friday with assaulting a 4-year-old boy weeks earlier, a day after the missing child's body was found under the porch at the youngster's home on a mid-Michigan Indian reservation.

Anthony Bennett, 20, was charged in a federal criminal complaint in Bay City, where he was expected to appear in court. He is not charged in the death of Carnel Chamberlain, but the complaint details the reported physical abuse of the child.

According to the criminal complaint, Carnel's mother told investigators that in late May or early June, she saw her son with a bruised and swollen face as well as a cut lip. She told authorities that her son said he was struck by Bennett.

A few days later, she told authorities she saw Bennett pick up her son by the neck and drop him before dragging him into a room by his foot, according to the complaint. RIGHT! BUT DID SHE THROW HIS ASS OUT??

Bennett reportedly consulted with an attorney after Carnel was reported missing but no lawyer is on record in the case.

I'm confused. Did the dumb twat report this when it happened or only after the child went missing?

Regardless, she stayed with him. Unforgivable.

MOUNT PLEASANT, MI — Police are back at the scene where family members say Carnel Chamberlain's body was found Thursday night.

The porch has been taken apart from the one-story home and cinder blocks have been removed while authorities search around the home and underneath where the porch previously stood.

One official was crawling under the home, throwing leaves and debris out of the way as he moved.

A family member said Thursday that the 4-year-old's body was discovered under the porch.

Officers in uniforms and street clothes were walking in and out of the home Friday afternoon, after a morning of silence on the street.

An official walked out of the home, wearing purple gloves, carrying a large paper bag.

Another officer placed a paper bag of unknown items in the back of a police vehicle.

How could even an ignorant selfish bitch sit and allow this to happen to someone else's child.... Let alone their own.... I can't even imagine I would've killed his ass if I were her...

the mother was on phone on nancy grace tonight. the entire show. no tears and the child was just found yesterday.
i will tell you this, i don't think she had anything to do with killing him, but my BS detector was on high alert. she completely minimized the bruises on him, the punishments, all the stuff in the PDF affidavit above. she made excuses for the dirtbag felon she had living with her and her son.
i think it's possible for her to be charged for ignoring the beatings the baby took. up to the police & state statute of course.

from affidavit:

Jaimee Chamberlain entered a bedroom where she saw her son on a bed with a bruised and swollen face, and a cut on the inside of his lip. A few days after this incident, the mother observed a 6- to 8-inch-long bruise along the boy’s ribcage. Bennett, the boyfriend, informed the mother that he had backhanded Carnel, who subsequently told his mom that Bennett had punched him. This all took place in the boy’s home on the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe reservation, where the mom, boyfriend and son lived.
