On a more serious note, i do have a little knowledge of what food is available and where to look for it whether i'm in the bush or the sea. For instance, the new shoots from the humble fern is quite edible

As is this common plant, which is related to the dandelion and quite often mistaken for a weed. Commonly known as sows thistle or hare's lettuce, it's quite nutritious. We (being maori) call it Puha.

Fiddle Heads!!! I loves them! Our season is about three weeks in the beginning of spring, but I always harvest several quarts to freeze.

Fiddlehead quiche is awesome, as is soup, and they are the best greens in a salad fresh Smiley_emoticons_biggrin
