You couldn't get a clue during the clue mating season in a field full of horny clues if you smeared your body with clue musk and did the clue mating dance.

I never put my life on the line. Once I went on deck in the North Atlantic and grabbed a first line that was lobbed over for the third time and I was getting sick of waiting for a good throw because I came off a late watch and was pissed. I went from the second deck to the first that was awash with waves and brought the line up to the stupid Lieutenant on the second deck after he bitched at me for going down and getting the stupid thing. The second and third line came across and we finally refueled and proceeded back to the convoy It was a rough night and I had a hard time eating the next day.

I was never put on the line either, came in a year or so too late.
Thought I was going to get taken out by an exploding turbine once, other than a serious ass chewing by the Squadron Commander it was pretty uneventful.
Its really nice these days to be recognized and even thanked! Much better than back in the day, If we were noted at all it was something unpleasant.
SO, to all those that served with me, Thank You.
And to those that have noticed us, Thanks for noticing

Thank you, again, to those who've served our country militarily.

Because I'm a geek who likes facts and history, a bit about this national holiday.

-Veterans Day originated as “Armistice Day” on Nov. 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War I.

-Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and Nov. 11 became a national holiday beginning in 1938. Veterans Day is not to be confused with Memorial Day–a common misunderstanding, according to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

- In 1954, President Eisenhower officially changed the name of the holiday from Armistice Day to Veterans Day.

- In 1968, the Uniform Holidays Bill was passed by Congress, which moved the celebration of Veterans Day to the fourth Monday in October. The law went into effect in 1971, but in 1975 President Ford returned Veterans Day to November 11, due to the important historical significance of the date.

-Britain, France, Australia and Canada also commemorate the veterans of World Wars I and II on or near November 11th: Canada has Remembrance Day, while Britain has Remembrance Sunday (the second Sunday of November). In Europe, Britain and the Commonwealth countries it is common to observe two minutes of silence at 11 a.m. every November 11.

-There are approximately 21 million military veterans in the United States.
16.1 million living veterans served during at least one war.
5.2 million veterans served in peacetime.
2 million veterans are women.

And that's the truth...

Thank you Veterans for your service. I hope to someday make it less of a hassle to get your vehicle title if I can.

That's nice a thought, Clang.

I didn't realize how many businesses offer freebie 'thank yous' to vets on Veterans Day, which is very cool, until I opened this business.

I've got several caregivers driving senior veterans to IHop, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Red Robin and a couple of other chain restaurants during their shifts today. Veterans' Day is the biggest mileage expense day for my employees.

Not original so I can't take all the credit. Its something my supervisor does and something I plan on doing when I get on the phones in a week or two.

Thanks HotD.

I always have a hard time accepting thanks for my service as I was rarely in harm’s way, unlike so many who gave their lives, were injured or have been/were mentally traumatized.

However, I do appreciate the outpouring of appreciation that this countey’s Citizens have shown to their Vets.

Well.........I'm sincerely grateful that you stepped up and took the risk, and glad that you weren't harmed.
