DUMBASS QUESTION

Unless you live under a rock you know Beyonce lip-synced the national anthem at Obama's inauguration. She sang the song, there is no denying it's her, it's not like she plagiarized someones work. Does it really matter?

Almost every news source that I've read the past few days has had this subject like it was breaking news. God help us all.

I could care less. It shows how fucked up this country is when that is breaking news.

My opinion on her lip synching? Can't say I blame her. It's a very difficult song to sing. And the inauguration is one performance you don't want to mess up.

I don't understand why it's a big deal.

They gave an explanation as to why it was pre-recorded and I personally have no problem with it.

Is it simply because it's Black Obama and Black Beyonce?

She's singing at the Superbowl too, right? Bet she does that one live. It doesn't matter to me or make me think less of her as a singer but I do think it's kind of tacky. I mean, why have the celebrity there going through the motions when they're basically unnecessary--you've got the recording.

There's live music and then there's pre-recorded. Imagine if concerts were pre-recorded. Part of the thrill of watching someone sing in real time is the potential that they might fuck it up...or nail it. But it's NOT worth the news coverage it's getting.

Either you have the goods or you don't. Either you sing live or you don't get the gig. You want the glory you better back it up with something. There are plenty of starving musicians who are more than capable of performing without bloody excuses.

I agree also. Some people sound better live, thats because they don't need a studio to cover up any defects.

It's the National Anthem at the POTUS’ inauguration. It’s not like they called her the day before and said “hey, can you do this?” She has sang it live before, and it was classy and amazing. So whatever the excuses are; its null and void in my mind. I actually doubted the claims that she didn’t sing the song live, but she did an excellent performance “lip sync“ wise.
