NFL 2013 SEASON

A shit ton of people watched. It made history -

The Denver Broncos may have checked out of the Super Bowl early, but the rest of America was very tuned in.

The 2014 Super Bowl was the most watched Super Bowl in the game's history, Capital New York's Alex Weprin reported Monday. The game brought in 111.5 million viewers, making it the most watched TV show in US history.

Some comedian said the last time he saw a bronco moving that slow, OJ was driving in it.
Thank god I am oblivious to the opinions of others while caught in the blinding splendor of my own cleverness.

What I saw was a well coached, well focused defence that had done it's homework on its opponent. It then proceeded to systematically and methodically grind it in to the field. They laid the platform for an offence that stuck to its plan, was hardly ever rushed. Wilson nailed targets all day long.

It was pretty to watch, from the Seahawks side.
It was pretty from the Broncos side too...pretty damn painful. The Seahawks put a beatdown on them, plain and simple. Peyton apparently picked that moment to remember he's Peyton Manning: best REGULAR season QB. All the points in the world don't mean a thing if you can't close the deal in the big games. Elway figured that out eventually.
That whole Bronco's team was back on it's heels er, hooves all night. Maybe hookers and blow wasn't the way to go before the big game? hah

I was watching an awesome hourlong preview of the new season of the Walking dead before I realized it was the superbowl.

What do you guys think about Michael Sam coming out as gay? Do you think it will effect him in the draft?

It wouldn't surprise me if it has an effect.

I mean, no GM will come out and say, 'we passed on him cuz he's gay', but some teams will choose someone else just on the chance it doesn't create drama in the locker room'.

IMO I think they all need to STFU. I don't mean keep quite and pretend they're not. Why the fuck does the whole world need to know. I'm talking Athletes and celebs alike.

I'm not familiar with this guy or the basketball guy that came out a few months ago.

I just don't get where the need to do an interview comes into play.

Who didn't know Robin Roberts was gay? Who didn't know Brian Boitano (sp) was gay?...some has been skater from 20+ years ago.

I'm tired of seeing it everywhere I go, everything I watch...everything I surf on the web. And the sensationalism is nauseating also. All the headlines screaming BOMBSHELL!!! Really? No, it's not. It was a bombshell 30 years ago when the world found out Rock Hudson was gay.

Why can't they just come out to their family, friends and the people who actually matter in their lives. Why the fuck do the rest of us need to know?

Sick of hearing about it.

It will definately affect him in the draft. Not because he's gay, but because anywhere he goes there will be a cavalcade of reporters asking the same damned questions over and over. He's become a media spectacle now and whoever signs him will have deal with all of the distractions that come with the territory.

@fahqtoo I would agree with you that it should be a private matter except for this: In our country, right now, the thing you declare ought to be no one's business is enough reason all by itself to prevent people from getting married, getting certain jobs, or leading happy lives. Other people, straight people who don't even have a dog in that race are fighting to legislate them out of existence. In Russia the government has mandated the state - sponsored persecution of people strictly based on that thing you say is nobody's business. People are being beaten and tortured. For being gay. In Muslim countries they're being beheaded for that thing that is nobody's business.
Except it's everybody's business...

Bang on. It will affect him because people are always going to make a spectacle about if it's affecting him.

I happen to think Jonathan Martin may very well be gay too.

You remember him? He was the guy being bullied in the Dolphins' organization.

Football is still very much a 'man's' sport and there are plenty of guys who will privately say they don't want any 'fags' in the locker room. Some GM's probably feel that way too.

I'll be interested to see who takes on Martin and who will give Sam a shot.

But, I agree with FQ2 I'm really tired of people having to state whether they're gay or not.

Why do people really need to know? Unless they're being persecuted why does it have to be an issue?

Because he wanted to control the information himself. I understand that and agree with it.

He wanted to get in front of all the rumors, innuendo, etc?

I guess I understand that.

I'll be happy when it's no longer an issue to be gay, straight, hermaphrodite or unich.

Yes, that's my understanding. He came out to his team and coaches last season so there are those who have known for quite awhile but now he wants to be in the NFL and he needed to do it before reporters did it for him.

Me too. It makes sense. I'm just sick to death of being ambushed every time I turn on my TV, or get online.
