People here are different

Some girl is waiting for her boyfriend and she points to his truck and tells me how she changed his tires this morning on it. Or was it one tire? I cant' remember.
Anyway
Then he comes to greet her and she tells him the spare is in the back of the truck, or not in the truck yet, and she says she should learn how to put it in the holder where the spare goes and her boyfriend agrees and he says he won't even help her.
Now I know this guy-we worked at the same company together. He isn't just letting her do this so she can learn-he is a lazy ass.

My neighbor comes over and they are talking about tapping the maple trees, apparently I have maple trees in my yard too-and forgot. So....she starts telling me how to tap them, where to look for the direction of the sun on them etc etc and I'm like, "Girl, I know nothing about this"
So of course I go look it up.

People here are so fucking capable I can't handle it!

And then there is me
Walking in a path in the front yard by candle light
Laying down on a mat on top of the snow and looking at the stars
People probably think I am a witch

...and you're included in that. You wouldn't be able to live there if you weren't. You HAVE to be self sufficient and you are.

That girl's boyfriend is not a gentleman and chances are, she can do better.

Tapping trees is fun. It takes a fuck ton of sap to make even a minute amount of syrup tho.

Being capable is a positive thing, but given his attitude about it feels like he is taking advantage.

So one of the son's of the cabin owner is here this week with his girlfriend and they went fishing and caught a fish for thier dinner and had fish tacos and on the front porch are their bows-I wonder what they will get with those?! (not sure what is in season to hunt right now)

On my hike yesterday I passed a gal and her mom who was visiting and they had just brought thier husbands thier lunch while they fished. Sounds nice eh?!

I would probably starve to death in the wild. I am not killing anything to eat. No way, no how.
