They are going after Taylor Swift now. 
The Topeka, Kansas-based hate group has announced plans to picket Swift's Aug. 3 concert at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo.
TaylorSwift works her 'girl next door' country-singer shtick, while hopping from one young man to the next and strutting across the world stage like a proud whore," the group wrote in a press release, and went on to criticize the singer's own father, claiming:
"He has no compunction about her immodest vulgar appearance or serial fornication. With a hating hypocrite for a dad – who will jealously guard her income, while not giving a thought for her never-dying soul – no wonder she grew up to be the poster child for the young whores of doomed-america [sic]." “This girl is a whore. Who else is gonna say that if it’s not the church of the Lord Jesus?"
Sometimes I'm surprised no one has attempted to shoot some of these people.
Too bad the Westboro loonies never picketed a club frequented by Aaron Hernandez before he was incarcerated.

I'm not a fan of hers, but her hundreds of millions in concert sales say she is not inconsequential, at least as an entertainment draw.
She's pretty talented, too.
Saw her do a version of Neon Trees 'Animal' at one of her concerts (via YouTube) and she performed it like it was her own song.

After the Westboro Baptist Church threatened to picket the funerals of Boston Marathon bombing victims, a group calling itself the Satanic Temple decided that enough was enough.
So they performed a "Pink Mass" at the grave of Westboro founder Fred Phelps's mother — a ritual they claim has made her a lesbian. "We believe that Fred Phelps is obligated to believe that his mother is now gay in the afterlife," Satanic Temple spokesperson Lucien Greaves told Vice.
Same-sex couples are invited to visit her Miss. grave and make out so that Phelps's mother will be "pleasured in the afterlife" (by lady spirits, we assume).
The Temple says it will turn more of Phelps's dead relatives gay if the Westboro Baptists continue to "picket funerals or applaud horrific terrorist actions."

I've never met any Satanists, at least not that I'm aware.
In this case, even if they're targeting Phelps as much for publicity as for his hate-filled diatribes and picketing of innocent victims and homosexuals, I support their actions.
I felt a moment of guilt for feeling that way when I considered that they're using Phelps's mom's resting place in the process - she died when she was in her 20s and isn't to blame. That moment passed.
It's funny. I hope that dreadful church has a public meltdown on their website so I can read it.

I got curious and read a bit about Phelps this morning.
He truly believes the shit that he spews; it's not just a bid for attention.
This is a quick read about how he went from West Point graduate to a Baptist convert from Christianity, to a missionary working to convert Mormons into Baptists, to a move to California and becoming a street preacher who got featured in TIME magazine 45 years ago.

Phelps's views haven't changed over the decades, maybe just gotten more extreme with a wider audience. To me, he's not only a hateful man, but one truly lacking in wisdom.

Bizarre, isn't it. I did know that about them. I watched one of those evening news programs who did a profile piece on them and children are taught from the cradle to have those beliefs. The God that they refer to is not the same God that I am familiar with.
