This map shows the number of hate groups in your state. I've been told many times that the KKK is here so that doesn't surprise me, not surprised by the neo-nazi group either.

Wow, Nebraska actually has more of something than a couple of other states. Well apart from wide open spaces and anything agricultural, that is..

I had to change the map. I noticed some discrepancies after I posted it. That happened because the original map would have blown the margins for some so I had to hunt down a smaller one.

This link shows exactly what hate groups are in each state. I would have preferred not to post a link but I didn't have any other option, one has to select a state.

I noticed that my state lost 7 hate groups from the time I read the OP to the time I clicked your link. We kicked a couple to Tiki and sally and the rest over to ramsey. Smiley_emoticons_wink

Seriously, it's a lot of hate on either map and while the number of groups may differ a bit, the rankings of "most hate groups" per state is probably the same. I'd guess the rankings are directly proportionate to the total population, with maybe a couple of exceptions like Arkansas where I think the population is relatively low but the number of classified hate groups is relatively high (due to its historical KKK hotbed and "patriot" group offshoots, probably).

In general, the more people in a state, the more hateful people/groups in a state?

I'd say proportionate diversity plays a role also. Places like North Dakota where there are only white people and damn few of them, there's just skinheads or neonazis. But NYC where there are millions of different people piled into close quarters...it gets easier to hate.

None in my town I notice.

They just don't like anyone who doesn't look like them. I don't think there would be nearly as much hate if people simply minded their own business but too many people are incapable of doing that.
