NBC Chief Medical Correspondent Nancy Snyderman broke her Ebola quarantine back in October to get some take-out food. And although she apologized and the network said all was forgiven and that she would return, so far there's no sign of the doctor. That, combined with a new doctor doing NBC news segments, raises the question of whether Snyderman's career might be over.

When it first happened, I was of the opinion like string her up! But now that I understand somewhat more about O/Ebola, I believe since Nancy of course understood the transmission of the disease, felt that she really was not a threat to others.
I do believe as BG1 originally said, during the panic stages, Ebola dose not spread that easily. And only with direct contact with bodily fluids of the Ebola infected.

So now, I believe Nancy should get her job back, since she knew what she was doing at the time.

No, She shouldn't. She agreed to the isolation, Knew about the unreasonable panic, Knew she was a public figure, Knew people would be watching and still did something stupid.
I believe some rules are meant to be broken, I do it all the time. I also Know when to do this and when its unwise. She should too. Stupid is supposed to be painful.

Meh, I never even heard of Nancy Snyderman so I was just taking a gamble before I read it all.

Turns out I agree.

I don't necessarily think she should be fired, but I wouldn't blame NBC if they did decide to fire her or keep her in the background for a few more months.

I mean, if she was the network's Chief Financial Correspondent, or Senior Weather Analyst or something like that, it would be different.

But, as the Chief Medical Correspondent, it lessens NBC's perceived credibility that their medical expert failed to respect the protocols established by health officials and ignored the safety regs she was communicating to the network's viewers. It would probably be kinda difficult for NBC to refer to her on any Ebola-related matters without facing a bunch of backlash.

Plus, I think she's full of shit. She coulda just ordered delivery instead of picking up take out -- just what the hell was Nancy really up to? That's the real story.

That's why she needs to go. When she knew the whole country was freaking, her lack of common sense should cost her her job. It's time people started paying for their stupidity.

The linked story says that she and her crew all broke quarantine and went for take-out together. I was kinda hoping that she'd darted out for a bikini wax or a quickie or something more interesting than food.

In any case, I agree breaking the quarantine defied common sense, especially given her high profile position and the fact that she's a brilliant woman. It was a stupid thing to do, regardless of whether she truly knew better than the health officials setting public guidelines.

Anyway, the story says she'll be back on the air at NBC tomorrow (but won't be covering Ebola stories in the immediate future).

I think even Sanjay would be subject to getting booted off the air for such a stupid stunt. I don't think she genuinely posed any risk to the public but as a medical correspondent, she should have acted precisely and followed every protocol laid out for her. Instead she went stoopid.

She would have fared better had she acted like the quarantined nurse and publicly stated that she wasn't going to follow the quarantine because it wasn't scientifically reasonable. Instead she pretended she was going to go along and tried to sneak out. Dumb.ass.
