Way to go Oklahoma. Respect-applause I wish more states would adopt this way of thinking.

Some Oklahoma schools display signs warning staffers could be armed.

I'm betting there won't be a school shooting there.
Whether they are or not its still a good idea.
It just might make people think before walking into a school with the intent of shooting the place up.

There's nothing wrong with making people think. Not a damned thing.
Cudos to the school system for enacting this. COmmon sense solution to a current problem
If it works hopefully more schools will do this. Of course the nay sayers will say there is know way of knowing if this is working and it just puts more guns around the children, putting them at risk even more, but hey, one can hope for the best.
Golly, I hate to post on the all guys' thread, but here goes..

I don't think any good will come from this and don't think it is the solution. The staff will probably end up killing each other especially when they find out the English teacher's husband is sleeping with the Math teacher....

I would think making it more difficult to enter and exit schools, requiring X-ray machines, etc. would be more effective for the overall safety and security of students and staff. They might have to start school earlier, but require everyone, no exceptions, go through security station.....
FU, your psychic

I think you mean, FU is psychotic! We know that, already!

I bet I am psychic, when I say, that all of you, who have posted on this thread, agree with FU. I should go get my crystal ball and continue my predictions..and we will determine who the real psychic is.....

That entire killing each other reminds me of 5 years ago when Iowa went from may issue to shall issue. The nay sayers said there will be blood running in the streets. Road rage will turn into shoot outs, disputes over parking spots will turn into the OK Corral. They were wrong, none of this has happened. Just because they have a gun on them doesn't mean they will loose their minds and start shooting people.
As far as the metal detectors go, they are useless. They will only stop the honest person. The person hell bent on killing will rush through, letting the alarm go off and ignore it while they let the sound of their gat drown it out.
Armed teachers in school is the answer !

I think it should be a little more complicated that that. Being a teacher doesn't preclude them from being a fucked up individual. I recently said something similar in another thread. I like the premise but I'm not down with arming teachers. I'd rather see professional gun slingers in that capacity.

That's all I could come up with. hah Gunslingers. Da fuck.

I agree. There is always more to it than just arming people. There will be classes, tests, evaluations etc. Even when I went to do something as simple as hunting deer in my town there was more to it that just buying a license. I had classes, written tests, shooting tests, background check and that was just to be able to kill a damn deer in town. So I can only guess what it will take to get approval to carry a gun in a school.
I know a couple teachers with concealed permits. They tell me they got them because of all the stupid crap going on. At the end of the day and no matter how politically incorrect it sounds they carry to protect themselves. Everyone else is collateral they, are the silent protectors. keeping quiet is one of the rules. I carry and nobody knows, why should they?

All of us want to feel safe where we live, work & play.

A lot of the people that I know that have permits carry in gun free zones. They are willing to take the heat if they get caught, or even risk it if they need to use it in that situation. Like the saying goes, Its better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
It's like my mama always says, "better safe, than sorry."

I am one of those guys. The only place I don't carry is places with metal detectors and liquor stores.
I was talking about this a week or two ago with the new neighbor and my GF heard me tell the guy that I carry all the time and she piped in and said she did not think I did carry all the time and that we went out to dinner all the time dressed nice and she never saw me carry. I reached under my shirt in back and pulled out my 45. I told her I would not have expected her to see it or to know.
Concealed here means concealed, so that's how I do it. Never been a problem and I don't frequent Buffalo Wild Wings in the first place.

As to the schools its sad that it has come to this, but its where we are. Until the govt comes up with a way to get the nutfux off the street and disarmed we have to protect our own. If that means training and arming teachers, ok. Just please make sure they aren't a closet nutfuk

I agree. I think a better solution would be a trained, armed security guard and a sign that says armed security on the premises. Along with better monitoring of who comes and goes, gates locked and the presence of a cop in the parking lot. I see cops sitting around all the time with their thumbs up their ass, there shouldn't be any reason they can't be in front of the schools. That would make me feel more comfortable for my child's safety than just allowing every Tom, Dick and Harry to pack heat at the school.
There's no reason a female teacher couldn't do the job.
