TOOTH decay is now the third most common reason children are admitted to hospital, official figures showed yesterday.
Nearly 37,000 kids a year are kept in with cavities ⿿ topped only by those with chest infections and premature tots.

FIVE reasons five years ago. Admissions are up 13 per cent since then.
Tories blamed a lack of NHS dentists, saying many went private when new Government contracts were launched in 2006. Shadow health minister Mike Penning said: ⿿Labour⿿s decade in charge has resulted in a significant deterioration in dental health.
Dr Nick Goodwin of The King⿿s Fund health think-tank added: ⿿Dentists are leaving the NHS in droves as they make more money privately.

OP, why do the people in England have rotting mouths as their National pastime?
i've seen a lot of what is referred to as "bottle mouth" here in the states also. kids are put to bed nightly with a bottle of juice stuck in their mouths for hours like a pacifier 
. it eats away at the enamel.
oh well, as long as the kid remains quiet and doesn't bother the parents
. they are usually seen at walmart too, 3 and 4 years old, with the ever-present bottle.
I thought only babies drank from bottles, not toddlers...Isn't that a little old ?... I've seen that kinda thing too and the moms always, always look so friggin' low class...I hate to say it like that but, it just looks so bad.

A local girlfriend of mine (who happens to be british), has a little girl who is about 2.5 yrs old. The little girl has pretty bad tooth decay. She had to go in and have have her teeth either capped or extracted, depending on where they were. She had to be under general anesthesia to do it. Here's the kicker though, these people are health freaks. She's the wife of a D.O. and they eat all organic, fresh foods. I think the little girl even had fluoride drops and STILL the tooth decay problems. ::dunno::
OK, I'll say it. It's a curse God has put on them for as long as they have a Queen. It's punishment for the tyranny they engaged in and in particular how they fucked with the American colonists.
I think besides for poor brushing and eating habits, it musthave something to do with being hereditary. It's not normal for the teeth to rot like that under any conditions except maybe if you're a hardcore meth addict.

You are correct Sally. It's genetics. Poor dental hygene and a sugar laden diet does contribute but is not the only reason.
People with rotten teeth have putrid breath...Can you imagine what an entire nation of people with bad teeth must smell like...Pollution !
