They say to stop looking at a screen about an hour before bedtime. I take L-Tryptophan, for sleep and mood. Very effective for me most of the time.

That's what often happens to me if I wakeup in the middle of the night. Once I start thinking, there is no going back to sleep.

My senior cat stands in my bedroom doorway and yowls at me until I get up. This morning I threw a pillow in that little muthafuckas direction. He's not really a muthafucka, I love him to pieces, but he doesn't really want anything except for me to get up. Ugh.
I've been sleeping a lot better since I stopped sweating the small stuff like finding a parking spot, money, car problems, etc.

I'm even getting up to pee less during the night. Only 2-3 times instead of every 1-2 hours.
I have no problem falling asleep at night, it's when I wake up a few hours later that my mind won't let me go back to sleep. So I have this imaginary door I walk through and try to think of nothing and see where it takes me, like on a train or walking through the woods. Sometimes it works and I fall back to sleep, but not always.

I did a little storytime in my head. I listened to soothing music, I did all of my tricks and could not fall asleep. I ended up getting up and doing some chores for about an hour or so. I eventually fell back asleep, but it was not very restful.

@Duchess Awwww kitty! Maybe that is why I can't sleep now-I moved Bela's ashes from my bedside and put them on a shelf in the living room! Smiley_emoticons_biggrin

No, but you need one every day you can't sleep. It relaxes you and releases all kinds of good natural medicine that will help you sleep; once you catch your breath that is.

The other thing is that I somehow manage to not think about this shit all day long and then I'm reminded of it at 3 in the morning. I forgot to call the guy back about the clogged dryer vent, son of a bitch! How the fuck am I supposed to sleep now!
