Whether Ledger wins anything or not for his performance as the Joker has fuck all to do with him dying.
Have you seen the film?, if not how can you judge whether or not his performance was oscar/bafta worthy or not?

Probably, his performance in Brokeback Mountain was also excellent and was duly nominated for an oscar so yes, the response probably would have been quite similar.
I promising young actor died by accident, hardly headline of the century but tragic in the same way any truly talented person dying young is.
