Mortgage woes mean more pets going to pound
Bentley, a 3-year-old Lhasa apso, was given up by his owners because they just couldn't afford to keep him any more. With foreclosures disrupting life, from the family house down to the dog house, and as Americans toil through a tough economic landscape, some of their pets face an even bleaker future in the pound. full story
I guess the alternative viewpoint is that like the house they should have NEVER purchased because it was way out of their financial range - they also should not have purchased or got the pet.

I don't understand these cases, dog food isn't that fucking expensive.

Unless there are numerous vet bills that need paying, it doesn't cost very much to keep a dog fed and happy, my old crazy Corgi dog Cindy had a bed, a blanket, a food and water bowl, a lead/collar, and a stick and that was it.

The Antagonist

99% of the time people wind up having to shelter their pets is because they move into a no pet facility.

Sometimes people are not faced with a choice. We don't have animal/pet welfare programs here like they do in the UK either so hard choices sometimes must be made.

Many times people also are not aware that nearly every pedigree breed has a breed specific rescue where you can call and find new homes for your non show pedigree dog.

I went through a bankruptcy and foreclosure and I managed to keep my cat due to being very diligent in looking for an apartment that allowed pets. I can't believe people that would give up an animal like this, to me it's like giving up your kid. Fuckers.
like i said earlier, dont buy the pet if you cant afford the house. this does not apply to everyone, but MANY are living in such EXCESS without a fucking care in the world....until their virtual house of cards comes crumbling down.

THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU CHARGE $5 FOR A FUCK AND HAVE TO PAY $20 TO YOUR JOHNS FOR THEIR SHOTS AFTERWARDS....

I would become tee-total and eat all my meals out of cans so I could provide my hamsters with all the food and other stuff they need if I had to because of struggling finances.
When you buy a pet you take on the full responsibility for that animals welfare, it is a responsibility I have always taken very seriously. Pets, especially caged pets, are beholden to the owner for everything and that owner has the duty to provide it.

Why don't we ship all those dogs to China in trade for the coin we owe them. Those little slopeheads love to eat that shit. Feed the piefaces, lower the debt, get the dogs out of the pound. Everybody wins. Could probably get Mike Vick to captain the damn freighter too. It's not like he is going back to the NFL.

Why don't we ship your ass over there... you could feed a family of four for a week on that surplus meat.

Credit card abuse seems to be a very American thing. And now the Fed is thinking they want to feed cash into that revolving creditcesspool. Fuck - let the people belly up and lose everything. Same with the car companies andany otherindustrythat does stupid shit. After the asshats all fail; what should be left is a healthier economy. I don't have a single dime of revolving credit - why should my tax dollars go to bailing out irresponsible fuckwits?
I feel the same way, Moose...This bailout is all bullshit...Let them all face the consequences of their own making...I don't have pity for any of them.
All these bailouts are fucking disgusting.

As usual people like me who only spend within their means and regularly boost their savings for a rainy day are kicked in the balls to help irresponsible fuckwits living a lifestyle they simply cannot afford.

It boils my piss. What is the point in saving and being careful?, we may as well go out and buy Rolex's then whinge to the government that we can't afford the payments.
