Does Halloween have any meaning to you, other then the traditional stuff?

Halloween has 2 meanings to me.

The first one is newer and revolves around fun with my son and the costumes, candy and everything that goes with seeing him excited on this day. There are few things like his excitement.

The second meaning is more internal, personal and intense. I have always (like as far back as I can remember) felt like a person with underlying negative thinking that dominates my internal thinking. Every day I feel that way. It is all inside and hidden behind the public me that goes to work and interacts each day with others. Halloween each year makes my darker thoughts somewhat louder in my head. Not like I will go out and kill or anything like that, but it is a "dark" time and day for me. Some people get depressed around the holidays like Christmas. For me it is Halloween and it is hard to explain. I just see the world more negatively around this time each year. Maybe it is the weather getting colder or something other then Halloween, but it always seems strong at this time.

That is pretty dynamic Liquid and I would love to discuss this with you if you so desire. I have a few things to offer you that may (or may not) bring you some different views or greater angles on your dark time.

Dark is power as well as the light but it is in the Dark that most things reveal.

Hmmmm....some very interesting insight into Liquid here. Ya know what you should do? Hang a heavy bag and beat the shit out of it. That's what I do to control my anger. It seriously helps. I would generally prefer to beat the shit out of a person, but going to jail (again)is not a personal goal I have. Don't use boxing gloves, just thin regular gloves so your hands don't get busted up. The heavy bag does wonders! It tires you out and relieves stress. Give it a whirl!

As for what Halloween means to me? Nothing. When my son was younger it was fun getting him dressed up in his latest favorite character, but he's 19 now and goes and raises hell with his buddies. So far I haven't had to bail him out of jail, so that's all good.

But no, I don't give a rat's ass about Halloween. I leave my porch light off so I don't get any beggars at the door. We don't see many beggars in my neighborhood anyway. It's too much of a fucked up neighborhood and parents don't like to let their spawn out around here at night.
I just want to see if I can rule this out before commenting further: do the neighborhood kids know you're an asshole, egging your house, putting toilet paper in your trees, or other assorted pranks? That could explain your mood crap and the "negativity" if true, so I just wanted to ask. Also, maybe you eat too much candy getting negative effects from the sugar.

I have done that and for many years had a heavy bag mounted and hanging in my garage that I worked out on a few time a week. I would beat it until I could not move my arms or raise them at all. But after a few years I could not hit it hard enough to feel good about it .... if that makes sense at all. But for a while it did help release some of the stress.

I've always loved Halloween, but I think most of that is the season change itself. When I was a child, they still used an incinerator to burn all the excess paper at school and I still remember how wonderful that smell was on a crisp fall day. I like cool weather, I like the smell of the leaves, I like the occasional bit of fog. It just feels good, for some reason.

I'm sorry to say that it's just another day to me...I don't even get trick or treaters.

If you put a fan on high and speak into the back of it, it sounds just like Ralph Nader.

  • The light hides no secrets. Everything will be seen. The only way to prevent this is to "hide." (or fake your way through the day). The dark is when things can be safely revealed. Those who prefer not to see are not forced to look. Those who want to see will.
For ages darkness has always been associated with evil and vindication. It has been seen as a time of sorrow, hardship, and a precursor for atonement. It has been my findings that just as light brings power so does dark. The power of re-birth or new beginnings. The dark allows you to look at things for what they are with no judgments. The light let's everyone see and you are left open to ridicule so you keep it hidden. Hiding things takes a lot of effort and brings stress and frustration. At some point you must let things go.

Maybe you have been looking at this darkness negatively when it is really just the end of your body cycle (year end mental cycle) and all the emotions you kept yourself from displaying need to "outlet" so that you may begin your new emotional cycle FRESH.

How do you do this? The next time you feel yourself entering that dark state ask yourself..."what needs to be done" the very first answer you get will surprise you"

When Wiccans give hugs in the dark, where "more things are revealed," do they play with your balls a little more? I might give this dark thing a shot ...
