My dog is extremely smart, sensitive, and almost human-like in the reactions, sounds, and decisions he sometimes make. We sort of get creeped out a little and often feel like it is an emotional person relating to us! Now, I know dogs are not human, but somehow I don't feel comfortable with the notion that certain asshole ape-like relatives I have will have an afterlife or soul but my awesome dog will not. I'm not sure I buy it totally.
Nothing has an afterlife, you die thats it. Put him in the garden and make use of his biodegradable components before some other animal does or his energy will be wasted.

Yes, I absolutely believe that dogs have souls !...I am of the thought that any living thing that has a personality has a soul...I have an awesome dog too who I often think is smarter than some people I know...I know most will think this is a crock of shit but, she knows what I'm gettin' ready to do by what footwear I put on...Barn boots for riding & she hauls ass to the door...Spikey heeled sandals for work & she goes to her bed and lays down.

OK I'm not very well versed in the Bible, but if you 'believe' then all animals have a soul and thus are eligible to go to heaven.
How is this known? In the book of revelations Jesus comes back to earth on a [winged?] horse.
So by this I'd say all animals are there in heaven. Or only horses which I would find illogical even by God's twisted standards of right and wrong.

Well, we all love our dogs. I would love for Goliath to live forever. He's the best dog I ever owned outside my childhood dog Boots. But he's getting old, lumpy, missing chunks of his ears and his eyes are showing cataracts. He don't move as fast as he used to and his face has turned all white.
But I think every sentienent creature has a soul. So by that, I would say you'll be meeting your dog again.

Well your doggy can talk can't he ?. so maybe God has a special place in heaven for talking dogs............he is after all "more human like than any pig".
Yes, my dog "talks" - not English obviously, but he talks in some form. Some surprisingly odd sounds come from him when he does this. No doubt in my mind. Also, yes, he is quite human-like in some ways. I don't think a pig can ever be like that.
