warmer tonight than it was at this time three nights ago. -9F the other night and now sitting at 43F. I wonder if that was the extent this years winter...one week of sub-zero temps. Fuck, we even have bugs flying around outside...52

It's been hanging on or about 60 here...In order to have a fire I have to open windows...Don't even try to understand why I would want a fire if I don't need one.

Yeah, what's up with that shit? My wife does the same thing...it's fucking 82F in the house right now!

For me, it's the ambience, it's cozy, it adds an extra peaceful element, I like how it sounds & how it smells...It's a simple pleasure.
sorry, I'll build a campfire if I want ambiance...

Ok, get laid by the campfire then.
We made a roaring fire the other night - first time in a long time because last winter it was not really cold enough. I am pumped that it looks like I will get to use all this firewood this winter.
I put a gas stove in my bedroom a few years back, it looks like a little wood burner.
My bedroom is pretty big, like 12 by 30, but I still can't even use the stove, if I turn it on I can get the bedroom warm enough to bake a cake. But it looks cool sitting here though.78:

Ah you beat me to it! I agree with everything and just add in it is comforting too.

I miss having a fireplace or wood stove. My farm house had an antique Franklin stove and the rental before I bought had a regular fireplace.

I love burning aged fruit tree wood in there. It makes nice colors and smells lovely.

Duchess, try chucking in some pine cones too. Very nice.
it's 25 F here today, and supposed to remain that warm. and MAYBE we will get some snow on the weekend. i hear OP and Freak might get a huge blizzard.
i WILL be enjoying the fireplace and hot soup-chicken soup in a steaming mug. 27

It's hitting all of the UK? I'm asking because Freak is in London and I thought OP is a Geordie.

Quote:Up to 20cm of snow could fall in some parts of Kent, Sussex, Surrey, London and East Anglia, with gale-force winds causing drifts, forecasters say.

Pfft! That's only about 7 - 8 inches of snow.

SNOW IS IN MY FORECAST !...SNOW IS IN MY FORECAST !::bantits::
We had some light snow this morning but it all melted almost immediately, we have had sporadic hailstone outbreaks most of the day and it's motherfucking cold, 4 degrees Centigrade at midday.

No, because the snow melted straight away, like I said Guido.

I just heard someone in the barn say we could get 15 in. of snow...They hadn't better be playing with my snow emotions.
