Have you ever posted a goodbye thread ?...What drove you to do so ?...If you haven't, would you consider doing so ?
i think people do that because they have formed friendships on the forum and feel it's only polite to say 'bye. depends on the reason for leaving. if they're pissed off they may want to vent. if they have problems and can't continue to visit, they may want to explain so their friends won't worry about what happened to them. for example, i am pretty damned concerned about Freak Magnet and why she hasn't been here or emailed me for a while.
sin posted one of the nastiest most vicious goodbye threads i ever saw --at fg...86 after all those people rallied to give her huge amounts of moral, financial and practical support when she had her accident.
also, i found that when a fixture on a forum vanishes w/o explanation, all of a sudden the "where's LC"? threads start proliferating! ::lol::
I find most goodbye threads are just a cry for attention, a 'C'mon, beg me not to go' kind of narcissistic thing. The people who repeatedly throw forum Melba's shit me to tears...

That's pretty much how I look at it & because of that, it would embarrass me to post one...If I wasn't happy in a forum, I would just leave...People disappear all the time.
Farewell threads are a light hearted, amusing read. I like them as they provide such.
There isn't enough simple amusement in our world today as most humor is ugly in its agenda and presentation. Thusly, I encourage more goodbye threads.

Of course I'm not completely convinced of these thoughts and will wait for Syber to chime in with her opinion.
After all, I am sure she is reading this.
Never. I like to keep my options open.
I think most people post them just to be courteous.

Saying goodbye, when truly leaving, is appreciated. It staves off the incessant wonderment as to the whereabouts of the non-goodbye poster.

Of course, there are always drama queens and drama fags who simply want attention and an ego stroke at being begged to stay and given all of the reasons why they should.

A few years ago, a long time and beloved member passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. We would never have known had her husband not been kind enough to let us know of her tragic passing.
No, I just get bored with it and stop posting. This is the only forum I post on regularly anymore and I can see that coming to an end too. Mainly because you can hear a fucking pin drop in here.

Becky. :'( that was the worst.
I just came to this thread to say my goodbyes, not to explain why.Smiley_emoticons_slash
Another one bites the dust.

My prophecy of Duchess and MF being the only ones left here is coming true.

Its nice to know if I ever stop posting people will be incessantly wondering where I went. You all love me. You really do.
I love the drama filled goodbye posts from people that are pissed. You know 9 times out of 10 they will be back eventually. Kinda like OP and Ramsey.

On the flip-side....I just read a goodbye thread yesterday from a man that has been diagnosed with a rare and deadly form of cancer. His doc can't even give him a time line at all, and he's too weak to post anymore. We won't have to sit around and wonder what happened to him. He was very humble and was not seeking attention.....it was heartbreaking.
