I just saw a before and after photo of Chastity Bono... I wonder why the transformation. I can understand preferring women, but why would you need to turn into a man to do it? I don't get it.

I think the more manly image is just more of how she really feels/sees herself, so over time she stopped catering to society's expectations more and more, or even her brainwashed norms from childhood.

That is just my best guess.
