HICKORY, N.C. -- Hickory police have indicted Elisa Baker on 2^nd degree murder charge in the death of Zahra Baker.

Hickory police will hold a press conference at 3 p.m. Monday to announce new findings in the case of Zahra Baker.

Channel 9 has learned that the Hickory medical examiner along with the prosecutor’s office have concluded what the cause of death was in the case.

Channel 9’s Dave Faherty called the state medical examiner to get the full report but they are telling Channel 9 that it hasn’t been completed and they are awaiting toxicology results.

The medical examiner said there is a cause of death listed on the autopsy.

Faherty then went to the register of deed to see if there has been any change to the death certificate for Zahra, but it still said pending.

Three weeks ago, the district attorney’s office received the case file, which is in excess of 10,000 pages. They told Channel 9 that it would take about three weeks to go through the case files.

Elisa Baker was arrested in October, charged with writing a bogus ransom note the day Zahra was reported missing.

Zahra father, Adam, said his wife lied when she said he was involved in his daughter's death.

In an interview with Australia's version of "60 Minutes," Baker said he didn't have anything to do with the 10-year-old girl's death.

Great news about "step mom" don't really want to know the cause of death. What happened to this little girl is already so terrible. Bless Zahra's soul.

Second-degree murder is ordinarily defined as 1) an intentional killing that is not premeditated or planned, nor committed in a reasonable "heat of passion" or 2) a killing caused by dangerous conduct and the offender's obvious lack of concern for human life. Second-degree murder may best be viewed as the middle ground between first-degree murder and voluntary manslaughter.

There has to have been some tox report in this. How in the world could they tell much from what was done to that poor child's body, considering how much time had passed...

This will be very enlightening. I hope they arrest daddy dearest, too. He wouldn't know truth if it bit him on the balls.

Aggravating factors:
1. The defendant had a history of violence physical and verbal against the victim.
2. The defendant hid the victim from family prior to and after the offense.
3. The defendant desecrated the victim's body to hinder prosecution of the offense.

That fucking father made my stomach turn...he lost a truly beautiful human being for what, a piece of that ugly, demented sour faced bitch! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR....they better get him too!!

I know some about this case but I just CAN'T follow it too closely. That poor child - I'm tearing up just thinking about it. For God sake, didn't she suffer ENOUGH in her short life? Those freckles - such sweet innocence!

I hope both those sick fucks DIE, one way or another. Slow, agonizingly painful, all alone. Crying, begging for mercy with no one to hear their suffering. This is proof positive to me that EVIL does exist in this world. Let's hope that some other convict redeems himself, does the world a favor and shanks 'em.

Now I'm pissed off that they've got me thinking these thoughts!
