If you're a fuck up & did your time because of it, does that mean you're not entitled to a second chance? Does being a former inmate dictate that you shouldn't be given another opportunity in this game of life & everything that goes along with it?
depends on WHAT you did.

I don't think men who get pissed and slap the shit out of an unruly slutty wife or kids who show no respect should lose their right to own firearms.

On the other hand, a man who plots and kills 6 people should never get to ask the question of why he lost his right to live among free society.

Nor should a theif caught twice be allowed to keep his hands or his right to participate in a free society on the same level as those who make their way through life without fucking their fellow man.

another example...a pedophile may have "done his time", but they NEVER change.

I probably should have added a caveat that said this wasn't about peds or mass murderers, my mind didn't even go in that direction frankly, I'm just thinking about your average person who is sent to the slammer because they have been bad, not bad by killing people or hurting children but, they broke the law nonetheless.

I thought by reading some of your responses it would help me to figure it out in my own mind. I've always thought that giving people a second chance was a crock of shit & I don't give second chances but, I've been rethinking a few things lately & this is just one of them.
i guess you have to judge it on a case by case basis. if this is someone you know Duchess, ask yourself what they did; does it indicate a real lack of character or morals or scruples, and are they genuinely remorseful?
and is it a trust issue? it's very difficult to regain trust that's been lost.

I might as well just put it the hell out there.

Anyone that knows me even a little bit knows I'm an animal lover, they are a priority in my life & I care deeply about them. I wore my #7 jersey {Mike Vick} and I have listened to shit not only from people that know and love me but, from strangers as well. I told someone at the friggin' gas station to eat shit & die and that person had the fuckin' audacity to look shocked when I did so but, thought nothing of making a snarky comment to me.
Misdemeanor or felony? a person can go to jail for either, one carries a whole different set of losses than the other. keep in mind each also has a subset or class attached to it. that also makes a difference in the resulting losses of rights and personal freedoms and societal stigmas which will or can be attached.

My personal opinion is that it is getting more and more difficult to live without violating some bullshit letter of the law, I believe that it's purposeful and deliberate on the part of the law makers and that the end result is to dis arm, stigmatise and demoralize as many people as possible,

Vick is a liar, a cheat, an animal abuser, and an asshole, he was taking dogs from shelters and pounds and training his dogs to kill them, the fucker deserves to be skinned in a slow and deliberate fashion a square inch at a time.

Above is an example of a social stigma which this fucker never deserves to lose.

I agree. He committed his crimes against nature when he was already grown, so he can't blame his youth. He would have continued if he hadn't been caught. Of course he is trying to clean up his image: Millions of dollars depend on it.

We have a special hatred for him in Georgia. Not because he broke the law, but because he is a piece of shit thug. Only an "n-word" would get rich and still do that ghetto shit.

But I am a shit. That would be the number 1 reason I wore the fucking jersey. hahahaha Keep wearing it, Duchess. Just because it pisses people off.
If Obama can forgive Vick and Kobe why caint you Cracker? hah

caint.....hahahahahahaha hah

Who the fuck is going to forgive "Obama"?

Agree.

People breaking the law is wrong and S/B punished. However, after having paid their debt to society, it may be able to be forgiven if the crime was not heinous. Many people make mistakes, & some learn from those mistakes, the ones who learned, should deserve a second chance.

Preverted, premeditated heinous crimes committed by monsters would not have to be forgiven.

Since those SOB's who committed those type crimes would, and should have, been put to death! The end.

So somebody who steals some food twice (maybe they're starving) shouldn't be allowed to "keep his hands" but a guy who slaps the shit out of his wife or kids should be entitled to own a firearm (since they obviously have such great control of their temper)?

That's fucked up, Dick. Are you that guy?

Dick says fucked up shit all the time.
I believe in second chances for the most part, but not for Vick. He's just sorry he got caught is all. And now he wants a Dog...no way in hell he should ever be allowed to have any animal of any kind, EVER! He should not have been allowed to get back in the NFL either. Sports figures are "supposed" to be roll models for our kids. He should have been sentenced to years of community service at an Animal Shelter on top of having to go through hell trying to find a normal job like regular people with felonies.

Control is what you make of it, some could argue that a man should have his house in order, or that a women shouldn't be a married slutty pig, or that his kids should be respectful, at what point does society demand those things of a man? Is a temper a bad thing? and should a temper that didn't use a firearm be judged as harshly as one that did? Should a woman lose her rights when it's mutual combat (which it very often is) and does a pissed off woman get the same scorn from you that a pissed off man does?

Just to clear things up, I have never been in jail, I put others in jail, I have broken up fights between a husband and a wife and while handcuffing that violent fucked up man have been attacked by the woman who called me to start with, until you fix what's underneath don't try to fix the top of the food chain.

How can you steal food if your starving ? that's called survival, but when you steal a car, rob a store, burglarize houses, roll old women in the wal-mart parking lot (all of which is stealing) and I don't really think they can claim starvation as a reason for those actions ,do you?

I've heard/read about those kind of women. Stupid bitches.

i also put almost as many females in jail as males on domestic violence charges. i attribute most of the increase i saw to alcohol and drugs.

and that's why domestic calls are so damn dangerous (what Dick said). the woman will jump on your back and try to rip your face off if you "hurt" the fucker who was just beating her. he's the family meal ticket usually.
