Body of infant found in freezer
A landlord who was cleaning an East Toledo property found a dead infant inside a freezer, Toledo police said.
The landlord, who was at the home after renters had moved out, contacted authorities Friday night from the house at 116 Paine Ave.
Sgt. Joe Heffernan, a Toledo police spokesman, said the infant's body was transported to the Lucas County Coroner's Office for an autopsy.
The sergeant said he did not know the sex or approximate age of the infant.

Jobe's son was 15 years old when he shot Detective Dressel in 2007, he was only 35 years old he had a wife and 2 children. Very very sad!

Toledo woman arrested in Williams County for narcotics

BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP, OH (WTOL) – The William's County Sheriff's Office is reporting the arrest of Diane M Jobe for narcotics possession in Williams County.
Jobe was pulled over for a traffic violation on County Road R in Bridgewater Township, when police found illegal narcotics including crack, cocaine and several prescription drugs.
In 2007, Jobe's son, Robert, fatally shot Toledo Police Detective Keith Dressel with a single bullet to the chest after a confrontation in north Toledo. Police Chief Mike Navarre says Dressel and two other undercover officers stopped two people on Ontario Street around 2:00am. When the officers identified themselves as police, the two suspects ran.
Officer Todd Miller and Detective William Bragg were able to run after 19-year-old Sherman Powell, and take him into custody. Dressel ran after Jobe, confronted him, and exchanged gunfire. Dressel was hit with the fatal shot. Jobe was not wounded.

2 killed in separate shootings overnight
A South Toledo man who immigrated here from Cuba died after being shot at close range by an unknown assailant Saturday night, and another man was killed during a reported disturbance behind a Monroe Street gas station early Sunday.
Raul Izquierdo, 36, of 324 Langdon St., was shot in the head at 11:54 p.m. Saturday in the front of 310 Langdon in the Old South End neighborhood, according to Toledo police and witnesses. Witnesses said the killer seemed intent on confronting Mr. Izquierdo. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His brother, Santiago Izquierdo, Jr., 27, of 326 Langdon, was shot in the neck by the same person but was recovering Sunday at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.
In the second shooting, Torian Tall, 25, whose most recent address was in the 700 block of Pinewood Street, was found behind a gas station at 3365 Monroe St. about 2:40 a.m. Sunday when police responded to a call of a man shot in central Toledo, police said. He was taken by Life Squad to Toledo Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Police Sgt. Joe Heffernan said Sunday there were no arrests made yet in either case.
Witnesses to the Izquierdo shooting said the assailant opened fire just after the two brothers, along with Santiago Izquierdo’s wife, Nieves, and a cousin, had returned to their block of Langdon from the Spigot Bar, which is located nearby on the other side of Western Avenue, where they had been for about 30 minutes to celebrate a birthday.
There have been nine homicides in the metro area this year, eight within the city of Toledo.
Ohio DOES execute.
Ohio executed a condemned killer for fatally stabbing the 15-year-old son of his former employers in what was the state's first execution in six months.
Mark Wiles, 49, dropped his final appeal last week, and died by lethal injection earlier today, ending an unofficial moratorium on the death penalty that occurred while the state and a federal judge wrangled over Ohio's lethal injection procedures.
Wiles broke into the house of his former employer, Carol Klima, but was caught in the act by Mark Klima, the couple's son.
Afraid of leaving behind a witness who could return him to prison, Wiles stabbed and beat the boy until he finally stopped moving, then left the knife buried in his victim's back.
Wiles could easily have escaped the farmhouse after Mark Klima surprised him, Portage County Prosecutor Victor Vigluicci told the parole board.
'Instead Wiles chose to repeatedly plunge the eight-inch kitchen knife into Mark Klima again and again,' Vigluicci said.
Wiles told members of the Ohio Parole Board during a March 2 interview he wasn't sure he deserved mercy but was asking for clemency because he had to.
The execution marked the first time in six months Ohio has put someone to death.
Wiles' defense team had argued he should be spared because he confessed to the crime, has shown extreme remorse and regret and has a good prison record.
'Mark does want to live out his natural life in prison,' his attorneys said in their application for clemency.
They added, 'his remorse and regret are so overwhelming that he could not articulate reasons his life should be spared.'

Quintin Helm, who evaded police for five months, was arrested today by the U.S. Marshal's Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, authorities say.
Helm, 21, of 635 E. Hudson St., was wanted on one count of murder for the shooting death of Tyrone Patterson, Jr., on Nov. 30. He was taken into custody by authorities behind the Imagination Station in downtown Toledo.
Patterson, 23, was shot "during the commission of an aggravated robbery," according to documents filed in Toledo Municipal Court.
Patterson was shot just after midnight at East Delaware Avenue and Walnut Street — once in the hand and once in the chest, according to the Lucas County Coroner's Office — on Nov. 30.

Authorities said they received a tip that Helm was crossing the Martin Luther King Bridge and, when a police car driving over the bridge toward Helm caused him to run down a set of stairs leading behind the Imagination Station. U.S. Marshals, in an unmarked vehicle, had already driven down to the area near the edge of the Maumee River where Helm was headed. The marshals hid from Helm's view behind telephone poles, which allowed them to arrest the suspect, authorities said.
"He ran right into us," said Deputy Marshal Rodney Hartzell.

Charges have been filed in a fatal stabbing turned deadly car crash on the city's east side.
Kimberly Black, 29, has been charged for murder and is due in court on Monday. She's accused of fatally stabbing Sharice Swain, 29. During the stabbing, Swain pumped the gas pedal and drove into Black's home fatally striking Black's 2-year-old child. A 1-year-old child was also injured during the crash.
The horrific incident happened in the driveway of Black's home Thursday evening in the 3000 block of E.125
th Street just after 9 p.m. There were four young children inside the home when it all went down, two of the four escaped unharmed.
Cleveland Police say Kimberly Black, 29, and Sharice Swain, 29, were arguing in a vehicle parked in Black's driveway when the Black went into the home and grabbed a weapon. Black returned to the vehicle and stabbed Swain multiple times causing Swain to press the gas pedal sending the vehicle forward into Black's home, hitting two of Black's children.
After the crash, Black stripped out of her clothes and fled the scene. She was later arrested in the area of East 123
rd Street and Soika Avenue.
Swain was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center where she died from multiple slash wounds to her throat. Black's 2-year-old child was pronounced dead on scene and her 1-year-old daughter was transported to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital where she is expected to be released late Friday evening.
Children Family Services (CFS) reports that two uninjured children inside the home ages 3 and 9 are now in the custody of their aunt. The hospitalized 1 year old was released Friday evening and is now back with her other siblings. CFS says they are providing crisis counseling to the children and are making sure a plan is in place for the children while their mother is behind bars.
19 Action News was told by CFS that Black's kids have never been in their custody prior to Thursday's incident. However, their is an open dependency complaint.
Children Family Services say they continue to assist Cleveland Police with their investigation.
Black has now been charged with Murder. She will face a judge Monday morning.
