How awful it must be to be thought guilty of harming your own child when nothing could be further from the truth & you are suffering.
I think that sometimes when I read the stories in the crime forum.
I hope I am never as cynical as so many of you are.
sadly the stats more often than not show it's family that kills children.
please don't ask me to go find the stats, but it's true.
stranger murder/abduction is very rare.
but yes, it would be horrible to be wrongfully suspected/accused.

hell, i'm wracking my memory to recall a wrongfully suspected parent of a murdered/disappeared child.
edit to add: i suspected Jessica Lunsford's father for a short time. i can't remember another one.
Even if the parents didn't do it, they are often guilty of not keeping an eye on their own kids and not keeping them safe. If someone breaks into your house to steal your kid (like that Mormon girl) then nobody gives you much shit. If you left the kid alone somewhere, or with pedos to babysit, it is on you.
It is "my watch" when any of the kids are home, grown or not grown. Some people take better care of their pets than they do their kids.
Maybe I should have made the example more general. Yeah, I should have. How about "to be thought guilty of a crime when you are innocent".
Richard Jewell springs to mind. he suffered for a long time.
