FFS, I shouldn't be shocked, I really shouldn't but...WTF on those tweets? This is why I'm watching my daughter's computer use.

My exact thoughts. Her twitter is ridiculous for a 15 year old girl. I'd like to know about her family because obviously she was a "rebel". Her tagline says "Well behaved women rarely make history." I don't have a good feeling about this.

My kids are 27-34. The kids had computers in their rooms for their homework, but the only one with online access was in the kitchen so it was easy to keep an eye on what they were doing. That was a different time though. It seems like it would be dang near impossible these days to monitor texts, tweets, postings, online access...
With Sierra's scent disappearing at her driveway, it seems likely she got in a car with someone. Her phone being found in a field is a bad sign...I haven't seen anything about the location of this field.
she left for her bus stop but the bus driver never saw her. her scent stopped at end of driveway. so someone was waiting to pick her up, the question is, was she snatched or did she go willingly?
the phone being thrown out of a vehicle (probably) was because someone knew the pings could be tracked.
her tweets are disturbing, talk of drugs, suicide, etc. but all her friends say she was a happy kid.
gilroy dispatch
Sheriff’s deputies plan to conduct dozens of interviews with Morgan Hill teens who might know anything about missing Sobrato High School student Sierra LaMar, who was reported missing Friday.
LaMar, 15, has not been seen since she left for school the morning of March 16, according to Santa Clara County sheriff’s Sgt. Jose Cardoza. Deputies and Sobrato Principal Debbie Padilla held a press conference outside the school on Burnett Avenue Monday morning to report updates in the search, which is ongoing and has not turned up any major leads.
LaMar’s cell phone, a Droid smart phone, was found Saturday night in a field near Scheller Avenue and Santa Teresa Boulevard, authorities said. That spot is in the opposite direction from which LaMar usually walks to catch a Morgan Hill Unified school bus to go to school each morning.
Her bus stop is near the intersection of Palm and Dougherty avenues, just south of her home on Paquita Espagna Court. Her cell phone was found northwest of her residence, about half a mile away from the home.
Other than the discovery of the phone, police have found few clues to explain the teen’s disappearance, Cardoza said. Police have also recovered LaMar’s laptop computer, and continue to watch her Facebook and Twitter accounts to watch for clues.
LaMar has not updated the social network accounts since she was reported missing, Cardoza added.
As of Monday, police had not found any “obvious signs” of foul play, or any evidence to suggest that a crime has occurred, Cardoza said.
“It’s frustrating from our standpoint that we haven’t found any clues,” Cardoza said at the press conference.
Police said LaMar was last seen about 6 a.m. Friday. Her last “tweet” on her Twitter account was posted at 6:29 a.m. that day. Iris Wise, a neighbor of LaMar’s and her family on Dougherty Avenue said she has seen LaMar walking past her house to the school bus stop before, but it was usually “closer to 7 (a.m.).”
From looking at her twitter, imo, she seems to really crave attention....even for a 15 year old girl.
One tweet that makes me think:
Going to school tomorrow <<< I rather die (11:41pm - 15 Mar 12)
A friend of hers was the one who originally posted it, and Sierra retweeted it. I wonder what else was goin on outside of school that day
Apparently Sierra's father is a Registered Sex Offender. That fact may have no relation to the case.

11 p.m. Update:
Late Monday night, ABC7 learned that Sierra's father, Steve LaMar, is a registered sex offender. He lives in Fremont, is listed under Megan's Law, and was convicted of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14. We will be following up on this stunning revelation and will report more details as we learn them.

I'm pretty sure the RSO is Sierra's father. Sierra's father's name is Steve; the age is consistent; the location is nearby. (ABC7 News is the local news staff. They've got a couple of sharp investigative reporters who do good work. Not to say they don't make mistakes though...)
From her tweets, Sierra was clearly unhappy. I think running away is a definite possibility - but my concern is who she ran away with. I think someone disposed of her phone or convinced Sierra to toss it. If it was Sierra's idea to get rid of the phone, why not just leave it at home instead of tossing it a half mile away? I suppose she could have been staging an abduction scenario, but I don't get the feeling her planning wouldn't have been that detailed.
I keep thinking of Amber Dubois being abducted on her way to school.
Good question about the boyfriend. Moms' boyfriends always come to mind when teenage girls disappear.
I agree that the father's likely not involved. (Although having a father who's a RSO probably contributed to her unhappiness.)
i've emailed a couple news reporters about mom's boyfriend, we'll see if i get a reply.
mom's boyfriend's name is Rick. that's it so far.
but now the house is being searched. not just the phone and computer.

This video shows the mom passing at flyers at the bus stop. I had imagined the bus stop to be in a residential area, but it's on a highway with nothing but open fields there. Sierra was the only student to get on at that stop. There are some brief shots of the boyfriend towards the end of the video - he's in a blue shirt and is also passing out flyers.
I've seen bus stops like that around here, they are a sign on the side of the road, not what one considers a bus stop to be.
Mom acts weird in the video.
