Felix Baumgartner freefall jump from space – live stream
The daredevil skydiver Felix Baumgartner is to jump from the edge of space, 36,576 metres (120,000ft) above the Earth, breaking a record set more than 50 years ago. He hopes to be the first person to break the speed of sound – about 690mph (1,110km/h) – in freefall...

No. He'll go up in a puff of smoke. *poof*
Yep, I tend to think he's going to come down with all the grace of a cow falling in an elevator shaft and get seared/roasted on the way down.

I hope I'm wrong for his sake.
what is wrong with people? why do they have a death wish?

It's not a death wish. It's the adventure & the thrill of succeeding, he doesn't expect to die and has taken every precaution, he has also trained extensively.
Nonsense. I don't get the appeal.
^
That's fine. Most don't.
Others do.
Last one to do that did it from 30,000 meters and survived, iirc.

It says he's trying to break a record set 50 years ago. I wonder how they did it then without the technology we have now? I'll have to Google it when I have a little more time.
I say he'll return looking a decade younger.
I've looked it up, he did a test jump from 30,000 metres in July, no idea why that doesn't count.
He can't jump due to the winds I guess. I couldn't watch my son do something like this.
My nephew sky dived for his 18th birthday. He said it was the most exhilarating experience ever. I will take his word for it.
Mission aborted. Maybe Thursday.
Nonsense poopypants.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Wuss.
Let a little gentle breeze get in his way.

Cool; he did it today and he's alive, well, and celebrating. Highlights from the news:

-While spinning in his free-fall, "I really thought, 'I am in trouble,'" Baumgartner recalls

-He soared up to 24 miles -- for the highest balloon ride and highest jump ever

-Then the Austrian daredevil hit 833.9 mph at one point, breaking the speed of sound

-Risks were low temperatures, thin atmosphere and a possible loss of consciousness
Amazing.
