This makes perfect sense to me and I hope that Colorado and Washington are gateway states; opening the door for more states to adopt similar decriminalization measures.
On the other hand, I understand those that are against decriminalization of marijuana. It could set a dangerous precedent. Like the repealling of those laws that still prohibited consensual sodomy in many states up til 2003?

In a huge victory for the pro-pot movement, Washington and Colorado became the first states in the U.S. to legalize marijuana for recreational use on Tuesday. The unprecedented win could bring even more welcome news for marijuana users, as some say that legal pot could also mean cheaper pot for consumers.

Former Secretary of State, George Schultz called for the legalization of recreational drugs, it would take much of the criminal element out of the picture, he was brilliant and I see the Colorado vote one for good old George.
