Just a couple of days after one of the most tragic events in American history, another incident happens. Anybody aware of this? Did it make national news? After such a horrific event that had occurred just days earlier, one would think every media outlet in the country would have picked this story up.

But yet, as far as I know, this story was completely ignored, except by the local media.

Why?

Could it be perhaps that nobody died due to the fact that an off duty police officer who was armed prevented multiple deaths? Yeah, they don't want you to hear about that, do they....

I think you are right Duchess. They would rather exploit tragedies and show the horrific pictures over and over and over.

It seems like that gunman was a horrible shot. I mean, they portray him as firing lots and lots of bullets and he didn't kill anybody?

Unfortunately, Duchess is right. Only the horrid stories play over and over again.

I read that when it happened. It didn't get much press because the media types don't like to admit that more guns stop crimes than they commit.

I don't think the media likes to report on happy endings.

Media reports what sells.
If there is any "blame" to go around, it is the consumer of the news (us).

It's like blaming McDonalds (i.e.: media) because the public in general would rather have a cheese burger (i.e.: bad news) than a carrot stick (ie: good news).
