Did their neighbor say WHEN these shady people hung around there? Was it the whole time Johnny lived there or only after Lisa's parents went on holiday?

They spend a lot of time at their cottage. Lisa's friends could have been around then I suppose.

Thanks, it explains a few things if the parents went away a lot, like TW saying she'd been to the house before that weekend, and when Maytee might have visited the house herself.

LOL thanks for the video, I had not heard of Red Green but we could probably be friends Smiley_emoticons_smile

I found ZEBRA striped duct tape at Walmart. I'm wallpapering my bathroom with it LOL I'll post pictures when I'm done (you can't even tell it's tape). Obviously duct tape doesn't give me the heevey geevies.... but I do look at it a little differently now.

Public help sought in homicide investigation
The Lucas County sheriff's office is asking for public input in the January deaths of two young people in a Springfield Township home.
Johnny S. Clarke and Lisa Straub were found dead in a home on Longacre Lane on January 31. The couple had been murdered.
Kathy Stooksbury, an investigator with the sheriff's office, said the department is seeking anybody who may have information on the case.
Detective Stooksbury said investigators are looking at all leads. "We don't know why this happened. They were just two young kids living life one day at a time," she said.
The detective noted that the department is still awaiting the toxicology report, adding that it can take some time before they receive the results.
In the meantime, the department is actively following up on any leads day and night. "Anything, anyone may have seen; we want them to tell us," she said.
The detective added that the department can't say whether this a chance incident. "We don't know if this is random or not."
Detectives are open to any and all possibilities. "We are not attributing this to any one thing. We can't do tunnel vision. That puts blinders on us," she said.
Detective Stooksbury said the department won't rest until the perpetrators are caught. "Nobody wants to solve this more than we do," she added.
She encourages anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111.

I think the sheriffs need to stop reading this thread. Its just confusing the shit out of them. me too

My guess is, he went over the line, with what he knew about the case, & therefore the Sheriff had to cover his ass, or else it would look like 'tunnel vision', OR it would make residents feel like LE doesn't know their ass from a hole in the ground, type thing, as in they don't have a clue what happened. If you think about it, that's pretty much what the Sgt made it sound like, with "the perps have probably left the area" , etc..... leaving it too cut & dry. I know I'm not wording this all right, but in MY mind, I know what I'm talking about, LOL. You have to remember, the Sgt knows how the crime scene looked, knows what all the interviews consisted of, etc ... There's a reason he stated everything he stated to those residents, & I don't think it was ONLY to make them feel safe. jmo

I know what your saying, I kind of thought the same thing, because he was retiring, I' m thinking some of it is just his own opinion, like the "professional hit" and they have left the town...he probably figured he was out of there, so why not???

I respectfully disagree. My understanding is that he was there representing the Office of the Lucas County Sheriff; he was making what I recall was the Sheriff's monthly report to the Springfield Board; it was a public and official meeting; he knew that minutes were being taken as usual.

If he wanted to go out after the meeting with friends of his on the board and tell them his off-the-record opinion, that would be one thing.

But that's not what he did. He was on the record as the official spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office, and speaking in that capacity, he besmirched the reputations of the two murdered young people and, by saying that the perpetrators are likely long gone and probably would never be found, he in effect was announcing that the Office of the Sheriff had reached a dead end and was giving up in solving a double homicide case less than 60 days old.

Since this meeting and report was the closest the Sheriff's Office has come to a press conference on this case; and since this was a public meeting and under Ohio law the press had a right to be in attendance, I can't believe the Sheriff wouldn't have sat down with the Sgt. prior to this meeting and come to an understanding as to what his representative was going to say about the double homicide case to the Board of the jurisdiction in which it occurred.

This wasn't a retirement party for the Sgt.; it was an official report to a segment of the public; and one which would be and was ultimately broadcast far and wide.

In my humble opinion, it was disgraceful and unprofessional.

It wasn't something that would have stuck out, in a comment. It wasn't made in a nasty way, & I don't remember who even made the comment, now.

I made a comment about the cost of permanent headstones, but it was in reference to me personally assuming temporary grave markers were nothing more than a metal post and not a slab of concrete being that headstones are not cheap...not at all made to imply the family couldn't afford one.

I gotta give you people props for your non-stop gabbing concerning this case. How you can continue to create page after page of 'nothing' is beyond me. But, good for you. And, I truly hope that LE comes up with an arrest soon. Those kids deserve it.

Could you please clarify - are you saying that the neighbors are not in fear because the people who "would hang out at Lisa's" were not scary?;

or are you saying that the neighbors thought that the people who "would hang out at Lisa's" were scary, and that they are now not in fear because they don't think those people will come around any more now that she is dead?

Sorry about that. They said the type of people that hung around were pretty shady and that they heard he was in a gang, although I know Maytee refutes that. What they were getting at was they don't keep this type of company, so they don't feel as if they are in danger.

You say Lisa's friends. Most have seen the photos from fb showing Lisa partying with friends in common with Johnny's gang, or should I say crowd. And those photos were dated way back. So do you know just how Johnny and Lisa got together?

~and thanks for clue'ing me into how to go offline on fb~

And then I HID my duct tape! lol Am I the only one who now finds these items unsettling to have in their home??? Or am I just losing it....

Someone that lives in the straubs neighborhood. I guess people would come and go from Lisa's that were pretty shady. This person is about their age, maybe a little older so maybe he knew the people personally or maybe he judged by their looks. I know that's petty but I tend to steer clear of people that look like a lot of those kids in the pics of TW and crew. The conversation was super brief, kind of a hey I heard what happened in your neighborhood and they replied that they weren't worried, that they heard johnny was in a gang and that some pretty shady people would go in and out of the Straubs. Sorry I can't further that anymore as I didn't push for answers as this isn't someone I'm close to.

Yes, I agree. He did. But if the Sgt and the Sheriff would have been running the ship as it should be run, they would have met before this public meeting and agreed on what was going to be said.

I am not criticizing law enforcement in general. In fact, I have stated several times before that we have a great bunch of professionals in the Detective Bureau of the adjacent City of Toledo. In addition, if the Sheriff's Office is ever successful in putting together a case which can hold water in the eyes of the Lucas County Prosecutor's Office, which handles all felony cases for the entire county of both incorporated and incorporated areas, then we will be able to look forward to an able prosecution.

Julia Bates is a tough and competent Prosecutor, and in the early years of her first term, she was successful in re-opening and prosecuting many cold, and sometimes bizarre, homicide cases to successful conclusions, convictions and imprisonment or execution.

I can only hope that this Sheriff can deliver. There have been so many fumbles and missteps by him in the past and, unlike most law enforcement offices, his has been filled with many political appointees of no particular skill or distinction. I hope that does not describe his present Detective Bureau, but it seems that we can't even find out how many detectives he has, let alone how many are working on this case.

It's always darkest before the dawn....Something's going to break, I am sure LE feels as intensely as we do and wants an see an arrest. They have to play by the rules and give the DA a successful case for prosecution. Remember the FBI and BCI are involved and I think that makes for even tighter lips.

Lisa's uncle is not the type of person that would go on TV and state that she did not have the legal problems that the sheriff said she did if he wasn't sure. Also, for kids in that area I wouldn't be surprised at all if the criminal mischief was toilet papering a house or something similar.

Just saying..

Same here. We have duct tape, but it's rarely used. I can't even remember the last time I used it. For all we know, the tape may have been purchased ages ago, out of the area, for that matter.

Exactly. However, someone could have easily stolen duct tape. Ya know we're not really dealing with moral people in this case.
It's the hint of arsenic that gives it that extra kick.
