LC -- I totally agree. I think the intent was to burglarize the home (the alleged safe) for money owed by JC. Something went terribly wrong and they ended up dying.

i said the same back at the beginning Realistic, they just used what was there. they may have brought the tape just to restrain them. but i still don't think murder was the purpose of the home invasion. i never did.

Kitty1 said awhile back she asked the Straub's if they had any bags like them in their home Kitty1 said they didn't & they didn't have that kind of duct tape. She asked about the duct tape first and she waited until later on to ask about the bags. Since Kitty1 is a relative of the family I believed her.

sheesh Sonny, i wasn't there!

i do think they brought the tape (see an earlier post).
i think they waited for them to get home to open the "safe" they thought was there.
i think they jumped them, came in through garage right after kids got there.
those are educated guesses Sonny, based on experience.
