Do you have a prized possession? Do you own something, big or small, that means a great deal to you?

Everyone has something that they feel is a prized possession.

I love passing all the Harleys on trailers on my Venture during the rally.

I was just going on about attachment to belongings in another thread.
All the stuff I used to love now seems to be an albatross around my neck. I've been thinking of moving closer to the coast and the thought of moving it really makes me consider the value of it. I now see large collections as a sickness. I have lost the urge to hoard. Just don't fuck with my big TV.

Nobody is getting my "stuff" it is all very important and someday I will need that bag of doorknobs.

A 1914 pocket watch passed down in my family, the yellow, pink and green gold cross my grandma wore for 50+ years before she gave it to me, her sterling and china sets etc. I have a ton of items that have been passed down. I love those most.

I've come to the conclusion that photos are overrated. My parents kept scrupulous photoalbums of me/my siblings growing up. There must be 20 or 30 huge albums at my mom's house. After my dad died, my mom mentioned that she hoped my sister and I would go through them and take pictures that we want and get rid of the rest. We both looked at each other like we'd rather drink battery acid. I don't know what will ultimately happen with those old books. I guess eventually we'll take a few photos but probably no more than 4 or 5% of what's there. I don't want to store 20 or 30 albums. Hell, my own photos are a mess.
It will be sad to toss them but the best memories are in our heads. I don't need to keep documentation of every little event in our lives. If I were ambitious, maybe I'd take them all and have them scanned in to something but unless I put them out on a cloud somewhere, I expect the technology will continue to change. I still haven't dealt with transferring all my important vhs stuff to dvd FFS. Commando Cunt Queen

User, definately worth scanning and labeling them if possible. With the increase of interest in family geneology and sites like Ancestry.com someone is gonna be real interested in what their predecessors looked like. Maybe even one of your kids may investigate one day and that album will be of great value.
