Maurice Sendak, author of "Where the Wild Things Are", died yesterday after a stroke. Great stories and illustrations. The other book that I loved as a kid was the "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" by C.S. Lewis.

Sendak elevated the art of children's literature over the course of his 60-year career, portraying children as imperfect, normal in their range of feelings and worthy of complex and profound illustrations in their stories.



My walking buddy MT loves the old Sendak books. Got a photo with him in front of a mural of the character Max in the alley here not long ago:

I knew I should have brought lunch today, everytime I eat fast food, I get super pissed b/c they manage to fuck it up, somehow, someway. Fuckin A.
