Its not tickling my fancy like it once did. I think I'm getting sentimental.

Not sure about deer hunting this year

Maybe this will help get you into the season.

It's a personal choice and I'm sure you'll make the right one for you, Maggot.
I wouldn't try to influence you in any way, ever.

How about you just go to the market and get a nice steak. Let Bambi keep his mother.

Why is it cute animals (squirrels) are adored, yet ugly animals (rats) must be killed?

Maggot, I do.
We can probably eat four deer in a year. I have LOTS of recipes. I already have two this year. Two at once. The day after Lady Cop passed away. I consider them a gift. The reverent side of me wants to point out that it is practically free food, almost devoid of fat and chloresteral. The irreverent side? It says: IF WE WEREN'T MEANT TO EAT ANIMALS, WHY ARE THEY MADE OUT OF MEAT?

You went hunting the day after, or just ate a previous kill? I'd like to know.

Usually my clothes are outside, my rack is on the truck. I have my tags already and people have called me to set up a few days, but my mind says screw it this year. Archery is on now and muzzleloader is coming so shotgun is right around the corner. What I really wanna do is more fishing. Maybe I will go just a few times. I do like it when my freezer is full. I gotta get out of this funk. maybe target practice this weekend will wake me up.

I know what you mean Maggot. By this time last year I had 3 in the freezer. This year, I have spent less than 10 hours in stand. However, as I type, my clothes are in the washer, w/ scent safe soap. My bow is in the truck and I will be taking a couple days off work next week to gat my lazy ass in that stand.

I should also add that, where I live, it was the first day of regular rifle season.

For a change of pace, maybe you could target practice by shooting out the tires on passing cars. That just might get you out of your funk! (And of course into jail )
