I hadn't seen that picture in its entirety before now.
Holy hell! I only saw it on my phone but looking at it on my laptop...wow! Poor, poor guy. It's kind of amazing he's alive. I can't imagine the amount of blood he must have loss with those injuries. Damn.

He lost a lot of blood.
That man holding his arteries closed in the wheelchair image saved his life. He would have certainly bled to death otherwise.

These images are...god I don't know, I can't find a suitable word. I'm horrified & fascinated and deeply saddened.

Yeah sucks to be him, and they are horrific injuries, I guess I'm desensitized because his photos really have no impact on me even tho I know they are horrendous he has my sympathies, not much else I can offer..

When these things happen, I make sure to look at the uncensored and un-sanitized versions of photos or videos. I kind of feel like when we clean it all up and make it presentable, it makes it palatable somehow... and it never will be.
I think as a society we've done ourselves a real disservice by hiding graphic evil of all kinds in the name of decency.

I have found a wikipedia article on the guy that pinched jeffs arteries and essentially saved his life, worth a read...

Boston Marathon bombings
Wiki Wrote:On April 15, 2013 Arredondo attended the 2013 Boston Marathon. At around 2:50 p.m. EDT (18:50 UTC), two bombs were detonated during the race in Copley Square, just before the finish line. Arredondo was photographed helping various victims of the bombings, including helping rush a victim, Jeff Bauman, who suffered extensive damage to his legs in the blast to an ambulance, holding the femoral artery in Bauman's leg. Arredondo was a spectator of the race, there to support a runner who was doing the race in memory of Arredondo's son, a fallen Marine

I saw him interviewed last night. He deserves to be recognized for his efforts. He's had his own hell to live.
I wish I could say I would have been one of the people helping all those poor souls but I think I would have been running as fast as I could in the opposite direction, I would have been terrified.

I think it's the flip of a coin for most people and for people like him it's programing, also the amount of despair and loss he has been through is enough for him to not want others to have grief like he has, my hat is off to the guy.

Duchess-(reply to an above post) I'm with you there. I honestly have no idea what I would do if I was there when this happened. I don't know if I'd have froze, ran, or leaped into action. I hope I never have to find out either. Terribly sad!
I'd hope I'd help because I'd want someone to help me.

I was listening to the radio yesterday and there was a commercial directing people to a phone number for the FBI for anyone that was involved or had been near the bombs for help and "compensation"
All I could think of was all the Aunt Jemimas and white trash that would be coming out of the woodwork when they heard the term "compensation" on de R A D I O.

Did anyone hear David Ortiz (Boston Red Sox) speech the other day before the game? I won't reiterate the entire speech, just a line - "This is our fucking city." Hahaha! The chairman of the FCC came out in support of him & Boston. I don't think the FCC has any jurisdiction over cable television but it was a very cool tweet nonetheless.

Status as of Sunday p.m.
• Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the surviving suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings, is awake in a Boston hospital and responding in writing to questions, a law enforcement official told USA TODAY.
• No charges will be filed today (Sunday).
• A wake was held in Medford, Mass., for bombing victim Krystle Campbell (Sunday).
• Authorities are looking at the possibility that a neck wound on Dzokhar Tsarnaev was the result of a suicide attempt.
• Word of Tamerlan Tsarnaev's 2011 FBI interview and 2012 trip to Russia raises concerns about signs of his increasingly radical views. Republican Reps. Peter King and Michael McCaul want to know why the FBI released Tamarlan Tsarnaev after questioning him in 2011. Republican Rep. Mike Rogers says he does not believe the FBI failed to detect any suspicious behavior.
• Watertown Police Chief Ed DeVeau, recounting the chase and capture of the suspects, says the two fired 200 to 300 shots at his officers, then tossed what appeared to be a pressure cooker bomb.
• The ACLU questions whether it's appropriate for law enforcement officials to use a public safety exception to justify not reading Dzhokhar Tsarnaev his Miranda rights.
• A moment of silence precedes the London Marathon, where some runners wore black armbands amid increased security.

Once the public safety Miranda exception is lifted, wondering if their will be private defense lawyers crawling out of the woodwork for this high profile case or if the suspect will require a public defender.

Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, an American citizen, won't be treated as an enemy combatant as some Republican members of Congress had suggested, the White House said Monday.
"He will not be treated as an enemy combatant," White House spokesman Jay Carney said. "We will prosecute this terrorist through our civilian system of justice. Under U.S. law, United States citizens cannot be tried in military commissions."
Carney said the decision was backed by the administration's entire national security team.
Federal prosecutors charged Tsarnaev Monday for his role in last week's attack on the Boston Marathon, as he lay in his hospital bed still in serious condition after suffering a possibly self-inflicted gunshot wound to his neck. Tsarnaev has been charged with conspiring to use a weapon of mass destruction against persons and property in the United States resulting in death.

I'm not exactly disagreeing with that. I simply would like to see people at least be honest enough to call it what it was - Martial Law.
I don't need things prettied up in order to make it more palatable and that's what they did by referring to it as "locked down".
