Phillips said this just after Williams' sentencing:

Last I heard, he wants $5,000 up front as a retainer for a felony case...

Sometimes high profile attorneys who make a fortune take on pro-bono cases, for a variety of reasons.

If Jerome Phillips is charging Maytee his usual fees, I don't know how the Clarkes are able to afford him, which was your original question.

Phillips is polished and savvy; he knows the Clarkes don't have (visible) means.

ETA: Jerome Phillips is also a Trustee for the Toledo Bar Association Foundation which works to defray the administrative expenses of providing pro-bono legal services to indigent persons.

sorry, ma-am. The Booking Summary is refreshed every three hours or so, depending how busy Booking is. I worked at both the jail and Common Pleas Court for a total of seven years before I got out of there. Too many liars and kooks like Maytee. and that includes staff, also.

I'd rather be called a dude than ma'am...just for future reference.

I'm not sure why this says she was booked on the 20^th with no bond? Do they mean booked in a way other than the defendant was taken into custody?

From reading the various court records, I think maybe LE arrested Maytee and stopped the booking process short of incarcerating her.

Instead, the booking supervisor had Maytee transported to the hospital; either because she was acting batshit or because she was wailing about some kind of extreme physical pain. Maytee already had an Own Recognizance bond in place stemming from the Obstruction charge and authorities knew where she was going and that she wouldn't flee. So, the court just continued the existing OR bond until her preliminary hearing for the new felony charge.

That's just speculation. @casual observer might have better insight having worked at the court.

Was anyone checking the booking site on the 20^th? The court date was the 25^th when she was a no show. The summons is showing the 25^th as delivered to the defendant. So I am confused. Anyways the next court date for arraignment is the 9^th of March?

Maytee's postponed hearing is now scheduled for March 11^th.

What's interesting to me is that Big John's future pre-trial hearings have been deferred until September, on his request.
