I don't know about cracking and giving her up (or if there is anything to give up), but Sollecito is definitely now distancing himself from Knox and making some interesting statements.

Snip:
Sollecito's new defense strategy comes as their legal teams prepare to appeal the couple's murder convictions in the death of Knox's former roommate Meredith Kercher before Italy's Supreme Court next year.

It's a dramatic departure from the past seven years, where the tactic has been to "stick together" and be "tried" together.

Knox's behavior on the morning Kercher was found stabbed to death in the apartment she and Knox shared seems to be a new wrinkle in the Sollecito defense.

That was early November 2007, and he and Knox had been dating for only a week.

Sollecito expanded on his doubts in an interview with Italian television that also aired on NBC.

Knox had spent the night with him but went back to her place to shower, he said. When she returned, she was "very agitated," he said.

She told him that it looked like someone had broken in and that there was blood in the bathroom, Sollecito said. But rather than call police, she showered and returned to his place.

He finds it odd, he said. "Certainly I asked her questions," he said. "Why did you take a shower? Why did she spend so much time there?" He didn't get any real answers from her, he said in the interview.

At one point, Sollecito called into question Knox's version of events on the morning Kercher was found stabbed to death, saying it was "imagination and hallucination."

Yet, a few minutes later, he added, "Amanda and I still believe she is innocent."

THIRD TIME'S A CHARM -- CASE CLOSED

[Image: 2D11478668-today-knox-sollecito-140131-0..._large.jpg]
Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito were cleared of Meredith Kercher's murder by Italy's highest court today. They're off the hook.

This was the third time they've been tried for the crime.

Sollecito testified at the trial; Knox stayed put in the U.S. and did not testify. I still don't know whether I believe the couple joined Rudy Guede in killing Meredith seven years ago or not.

In any case, I wish the Kercher family peace.

You're either (a) trolling or (b) lazy, aussie.

If (a), keep it up and I'll copy your posts in this thread -- about how Knox must be guilty because the tabloids said she was promiscuous -- right underneath your posts in the Random Thoughts thread about how you don't judge people based on their sex lives, Ms. Hypocrite.

If (b), read post 146 above again, real slow and deliberate like.

I am going to change your name to Twisted Sister, because all you ever do is twist my words and twist what I say.

I can at times be (b) lazy. But in this instance this has confused me, maybe it's the Italian legal system. I heard he got 20 years and is now serving it. They were trying to extradite her. Then a high court meets and says all bets are off? I thought it would be more long winded and drawn out.

I have no problems with other people's promiscuity as long as it doesn't involve FUCKING MURDER!

Smiley_emoticons_skeptisch "Lazy" was a gift. No thanks necessary.

So far as twisting your words, read this thread again if you wanna see high-falutin' aussiefriend-logic at work and have a good laugh.

The only rationale you used to support your insistence that Knox was guilty and everyone one who disagreed was less intelligent than you was your educational pursuits and the fact that Knox was seen "humping her boyfriend's leg the next day", making her a "weirdo dirty deviate".

I don't twist your words aussie. You get your grandma panties in a twist and twist your own self up, sister. I just mock you for it now and again.

YES, THEY ARE OFF THE HOOK. THE CASE IS CLOSED. IF THEY DID THE FUCKING MURDER, THEY GOT AWAY WITH IT. IF THEY DIDN'T DO IT, THEY'VE SPENT YEARS IN PRISON AND MORE YEARS TRYING TO PROVE THEIR INNOCENCE TO THE ITALIAN COURTS ANYWAY.

Finally, justice is served for Ms. Knox....now I think the "attorney" who prosecuted her should be be thrown in jail for all the underhanded tactics he used in attempting to find her guilty....The man in jail whose DNA was found at the murder scene, will be eligible for parole in the not so distant future. Disgusting behavior on the part of the Italian court system. Like some prosecutors here in U.S., he wanted to be right more than he cared about true justice....IMO

Alright.

Yeah, all defense and prosecution appeals have now been exhausted under Italian law.

Knox and Sollecito are legally "not guilty" in the murder of Meredith Kercher; that ruling by Italy's highest court is final.

The Final Word -- The Investigation was a Total Mess

Italy's top criminal court has scathingly faulted prosecutors for presenting a flawed and hastily constructed case against Amanda Knox and her former Italian boyfriend, saying Monday it threw out their convictions for the 2007 murder of her British roommate in part because there was no proof they were at the crime scene.

The Court of Cassation issued its formal written explanation, as required by Italian law, for its March ruling vindicating the pair once and for all in the murder of Meredith Kercher, in the apartment the two women shared while students in Perugia, Italy.

The court wrote there was an "absolute lack of biological traces" of Knox, an American, or co-defendant Raffaele Sollecito in the room or on the victim's body. Slamming the quality of Prosecutor Giuliano Mignini's (pictured above) case, the court cited "blameworthy omissions of investigative activity."

Media clamor also was a factor in what was ultimately a flawed case, the high court concluded.

The Cassation panel wrote that Knox did deserve her conviction and three-year sentence for slandering a Congolese-born Perugia pub owner whom she initially indicated as the murder suspect. The man had been jailed until an alibi led to his release. Because Knox served prison time for the initial murder conviction, she didn't face prison when the slander conviction was upheld in March.

Knox's false implication of her boss is the thing that will always lead to me to look at her sideways. But, I do believe the crazy prosecutor was biased and looking to gain even more fame for himself, with disregard to facts, when he led the investigation and tried Knox and Sollecito. I agree with Italy's top court; there wasn't enough (legit) evidence to support the initial murder charges and conviction.

She deserves all money spent in her defense returned and I wonder if Italian law provides that she get it?.

I believe she also should be compensated for false imprisonment (or whatever applies here), years of harassment, torment, and what, I believe were criminal acts toward her by the thug Italian Prosecutor....he should be in jail.....you may not like her, but there was never any evidence tying her to the crime. Rudy's DNA was there...he did it and he was not a friend of Knox or her boyfriend. I think she named her Boss initially as a suspect out of the desperation that comes while being interrogated (especially in a foreign country), much like a "false confession." It happens, you all and for those who believe she is guilty, I just pray you are never on my jury if I become irate and off someone....You can't decide, under the law, that someone is guilty based on zero evidence. Jeez......even if she pointed at someone else to get the heat off of her in a hot, stuffy, brightly/dim, lengthy interrogation room in a strange country with no sleep, and little food or drink. Hell, I would have blamed my mother just to get the heat off of me under the circumstances. Well, yes, my Mother is deceased but that is beside the point......

It's good to see you posting blueberry!

For me, a false confession under duress - thereby screwing oneself over - is one thing. Lying about someone you know being a murderer to get the heat off of yourself is entirely different.

Knox's boss Patrick Lumumba was in jail for two weeks and was only cleared because somebody heard about his imprisonment and came forward and proved that Lumumba was with him the night Meredith was killed. Lumumba sued Knox for defamation and won.

But, I don't think that lie means that Knox was involved in the murders, and I agree with you and Ski that she did not have a fair and impartial trial. Unfortunately, sometimes people are wrongly accused and convicted, everywhere in the world.

Anyway, Knox may not be entitled to financial compensation, but she and her family did rake in a lot of donations to support her defense and appeal, and she's profited from paid interviews, her book sales, etc... That doesn't mitigate what happened to her, but at least it eased the financial legal burden I imagine.
