A Trump/Cruz ticket could conceivably make a run. Cruz has the pieces Trump is missing in the eyes of the GOP.

The Trumpetheads are making me physically ill. I'm thankful that this debacle is going to guy the neo-fascism angle the GOP has been running with the last couple decades, but I'm absolutely terrified this guy will actually have power before we got that low point. People are saying it can't get any worse. But it can. It can get much much worse than this.

Yeah, I'm more fearful of Trump actually making it to the White House than I am of any of the fear-mongering clams he makes coming to fruition if he doesn't.

Trump is someone who highlights the GOP's worst attributes in an exaggerated manner, in my opinion.

I too hope that he gets bumped out soon, but that his campaign and the support he's been able to draw from fearful disgruntled Americans might be the wake-up call the party needs. The GOP really needs to pull its heads out of its ass when it comes to pushing policies that negatively impact the middle class, women, immigrants, minorities, etc... In my view.

I don't like the idea of an ultra liberal party having all the power, nor the idea of an ultra conservative one having it all. However, to me, each has its place in a system of checks and balances. Unfortunately, it's been way too long since liberals and conservatives have been willing to work together and negotiate for the common good of the people they serve, and way too long since moderates (from either party) in Congress wielded any real power. I really hope that changes in 2016.

I think in the long run this backlash will drive the Republican leadership back toward the middle, since this is the monster they created. If the mob rule morons do some real damage it will destroy the GOP as a national party, but normal conservatives will regroup under a new banner. Unfortunately I think a democratic victory will actually make the situation worse in the short term as far as the worst of the crazies, because they can continue to blame liberals and minorities for all their poverty and class warfare problems as opposed to, say, rampant abuse of methamphetamine in their communities.

On a side note, I was just listening to a detailed chronological audio book history of our country's birth and early growth called "1812", and I can happily report this is not the shakiest we have ever been as a nation. Just saying.

I tend to look at history for cues to the future. Of Trump wins we have a few years of embarrassing horrific behavior and more than a few downright abhorrent incidents on our way to a temporary fascist state. Not permanent, Americans are too bristly to tolerate full despotism. But ugly, and widely vilified by the rest of the world. It would spell our end as a world leader and cement us as a joke regime even,more than Bush. Might even rally world support against us militarily.

Clinton wins and the loonies are galvanized. Maybe even enough to riot in some places. We'd be fractured as a country for a couple years. Either way, probably dark days immediately ahead.

I am of the opinion that we are already vilified by the rest of the world and have been a joke regime to many going much further back than just GW. Until We see Americans tunneling out of the US into Mexico or escaping on refugee rafts into the ocean, I refuse to believe that we are doomed as a nation or destined to turn in our world leader badge and gun. As far as a world rally against us goes I find that laughable. Other nations don't get involved with the day to day operations of other countries. They leave that up to Uncle Sam.
