That's how I felt last night as it was getting dark. I sorta figured you were working when I saw you in here at this time of day.

He is to the right what the billionaire Koch Brothers are to the left.

Soros and the Kochs really do wield a great deal of political power, due to their huge donations along with their investments in causes and politicians they support.

But there sure is a lot of bullshit conspiracy theory surrounding them, especially Soros.

There sure is! Most of the time I can laugh about it. Many on the right think George cuts the protesters a check after every protest.  hah

I think I'm going to a lose client today.  He's barely breathing and his caregiver of 8 years is having a hard time with it (understandably).  I think he's mentally prepared to go though.

It made me laugh when one of the blondes on Fox News claimed that Soros was behind Kaepernick's kneeling.  Smiley_emoticons_skeptisch

1.   Our California DMV sucks big time and they did indeed upgrade recently, causing lots of double entries, site crashes, and some errors.

Some non-citizens were reportedly inadvertently registered after getting/renewing a license and a bunch of citizens' registrations were screwed up. That's true.

Those registrations were canceled before early voting began.
--------------------------------------------------------------
2. Politifact has rated plenty of claims by Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and many other Democrats and Liberals as false.  And, it's rated plenty of claims by Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Mike Pence and other Republicans and Conservatives as true.

The ratings are based on facts, not on a liberal leaning.

Since you don't trust the Politifact debunking of the Soro's voter booth conspiracy theory, you won't believe other sources verifying that it's false, so I won't post the links.
 --------------------------------------------------------------
3.  If you care, read up on all the editing Jame O'Keefe of Project Veritas has been busted out for in his undercover string videos to produce a false result which supports his anti-liberal views/agenda.  I don't trust the source because it's been proven not credible too many times.

The video of Alan Schulkin is the read deal though.  Schulkin really did say that as he gets older and more conservative he wants voter ID laws in New York.  He also answered the undercover sting operative's questions indicating he believed their was voter fraud in poor minority communities.

He later said that he should  have said "potential fraud" as he had no evidence of any, was mostly trying to placate the woman who kept badgering him, and he still wants a voter ID law.

Who is Politifact owed by and how do you KNOW they are not impartial? You did point to them as sometimes saying Trump is true with some things and false about others but that is NOT the same as making a claim that they are impartial. This is what so many people do. They think citing Politifact is a conversation ender. It really isn't. It is the bizarre claim that because they have said something it is suddenly undeniably true. It would be beyond stupid to be of the opinion that they or any similar organisation is beyond inquiry, debate or dispute. Really, really stupid.

Yes I have read up on James O'Keefe and know all about him and Project Veritas.
I also know it is very convenient for the Democrats and Progressives to write him off completely. If these same people were completely honest (and they aren't) they will admit that there is a Hell of a lot that he DOES expose which is true and relevant and problematic. Are any of these cases of low level nobodies in an organisation simply saying dumb shit to be edgy or to impress someone? 100% Absolutely that there is some cases. They are being careless and sloppy and it does happen. So some amount of care has to be used. A grain of salt but that is not the same as saying ALL of it is bullshit and unreliable and not credible and indeed the changes that have come about as a result of Project Veritas have help male an imperfect system a little better.

California DMV Yup, so I was right in this instance. Thanks.

Yes, I think that those that are anti-Trump tend to be unhinged and irrational and willing to believe the craziest of things based on the least credible reasoning and alternative the things they disbelieve tends to be the things best supported.

They are said walking dead zombies.

I've had this discussion so many times over the years here and posted the reports of official voter integrity research.

I won't do that again because it's clear you will not believe the findings and you're convinced that voting by illegal aliens is a problem in the U.S.

Yes the problem with things like voter fraud is you only know about it if or when you find it. You cannot tell me how prevalent it is or how often it happens. You cannot tell me where or when it happens and how often it is not discovered. Can you?

Now are you wanting to equate the discovered instances and pretend it is in some way equated or relevant to the number of times it is done? Are you going to pretend there is a way to extrapolate that from the data and findings? You are not going to insult your and everyone else's intelligence to suggest that you have some kind of quantifiable figure here are you?

If I were you, I would pretend I was being unreasonable and that you have presented something meaningful and beyond question and that you are now unwilling to give further support to your assertions because I am just not listening to any of your wisdom. Right amount of indignant and haughtiness will cover for your intellectual shortcomings. (Oh you have just done that, then don't let me stop you or point it ought.

Thank you -- that was an interesting piece highlighting the blatant attempts by the GOP to suppress the votes of blacks and resident college students for decades.

It's good to see the Democrats, along with rights organizations, more proactively staying on top of it and taking the cases to court (and often winning) ahead of elections.

The Supreme Court's overturning of the Voters Right Act five years ago was a bad and puzzling decision to me.  I hope to continue seeing the rights of voters covered in the media and defended strongly in the lower state courts.

I just watched Maddow's segment on Native American voter suppression in North Dakota.

It's insane the hoops and endless loops the GOP has placed upon native communities ahead of the midterms, like requiring street addresses on IDs when there are no street addresses on the reservations.

The tribes were the deciding factor pushing Democratic Senator Heidi Heitkamp to victory ahead of her Republican opponent in the last election. The new voter suppression attempts are a transparent and unconstitutional attempt to give Heitcamp's Republican challenger an advantage on November 6th, in my opinion.

Very sleazy voter suppression tactics going down all over the country. It's good to see the tribes pushing back and getting more fired up than ever to make their voices heard and get their votes counted.

Ya know the average asshole could care less about voting, just look at the population and the number of votes. It's pathetic. So think of THAT when you get all upset about these idiots running for office because I for one hate elections. Sure I vote but with all the hoop-a-la leading up to it with the media throwing poll numbers into outer space and with people speculating about this and that, then the votes get counted and......................the losers bitch. It should be all done through a goddamn website, and no phone calls should be allowed. Like Vegas.
He ain't heavy, he's my brother.

I understand how you feel Mags, lots of people feel that way.

I love the workings of democracy, elections, and all that entails -- it's interesting and important to me beyond my singular vote. Different strokes.

Anyway, I agree that the percentage of eligible Americans who vote is too low; one of the lowest among developed countries.

Apathy is one reason, which is sad. But, the country sure seems much less apathetic than usual heading into these midterms, as reflected in the record number of new voter registrations.

Hopefully a large majority of registered voters will choose to exercise their right to vote this year.

Intentional voter suppression is another reason, which is harmful to democracy, sleazy, and often unconstitutional/illegal. I'll never be unconcerned or uninterested when it comes to voter suppression and I'm really glad to see it being proactively and aggressively addressed.

It's happening in so many places, losers who can't win without cheating. Georgia is another example, the SoS state is running for Gov AND he's in charge of elections. Brian Kemp is a cheater who is actively trying to suppress votes right now and refuses to recuse himself. Cocksucka. I hope Stacey squashes him like the worm he is.

Maddow's also very good about presenting verification of the facts and clearly identifying when she's instead expressing opinion.

Here's the North Dakota Native American voter suppression piece from last night.

The Republicans appear very worried that Abrams is running neck and neck with Kemp.  If Georgia elects a Democrat for governor, especially a black female Democrat, it will be a sign of the changing tides that Republicans appear to fear, in my opinion.

Yesterday, President Trump tweeted his endorsement of "successful" Kemp and added that his challenger is "unqualified".  Derp.

The truth is that Stacey Abrams is very well qualified, with 17 years of serving as an elected official (four more than Kemp).

She's been  the deputy city attorney for Atlanta, she served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 2007 to 2017, and she was voted the House minority leader in the General Assembly.  So, she's very qualified when it comes to experience.

If Trump was speaking in terms of formal education, Abrams again is indisputably more qualified than Kemp.  She's got a JD from Yale, along with several other degrees whereas Kemp's got only a Bachelor's Degree.

Anyway, Abrams didn't bother defending her qualifications to Trump.  She simply replied to his tweet:  If success is suppressing eligible voters, leaking our Social Security numbers, and pointing a shotgun at a child on TV, I'll pass.  I’ll take Medicaid expansion, excellent public schools, and good-paying jobs.

16 days until midterm elections.............I hope Abrams squashes Kemp too.

The amount of fuckedupness going on right now in regards to republicans trying to suppress the vote is incredible! It's a goddamn shame they haven't put as much effort into trying to do a good job for the people in their districts as they have in to their attempts at keeping some people from the polls.

On a much better note, I've read the Uber & Lyft are offering free rides on election day to those who are experiencing difficulty in getting to the polls.

Some good news for democracy.......

Yesterday, a federal court blocked Sec of State and gubernatorial candidate Brian Kemp of Georgia from throwing out absentee ballots and applications because of alleged signature mismatches.

A state law allows election officials to reject absentee ballots if they see what they consider a signature mismatch in the voter’s paperwork. While it doesn't happen often, voters have no way to contest the decision. Now they will be issued provisional ballots that can be checked after Election Day.

"The court does not understand how assuring that all eligible voters are permitted to vote undermines integrity of the election process.  To the contrary, it strengthens it. Permitting an absentee voter to resolve an alleged signature discrepancy ... has the very tangible benefit of avoiding disenfranchisement," the judge said.     44

13 days til midterm elections.
