After 2010 Hurricane in SNAKEland, (I HATE SNAKES) a beautiful "Queen" Palm tree in front of my Villa, went down.
Also by the guest parking lot a Queen Palm tree went down.
Both trees were replaced at the same time, (they were about 8 to 10 feet tall) a few weeks later.
I nurtured and fussed over the The Queen Palm tree in front of my Villa. I put 2 packages of Jobe Spikes all around the
base of the tree, as well as used Miracle Grow on it as well. I watered (Jammed the hose nozzle in the ground around the
base of the tree spaced equally all around at least 4 places) ever day for 10 to 15 minutes each place. I did that for the first month.
Then I watered 2 to 3 times a week after that for another month or so.
I never did anything to/for the parking lot tree. It's about 15 or 16 feet high today.
My nurtured tree is now around 40 feet high and quite beautiful!

Nah, it's an old house, mostly brick and built in the 1700's. It has a name and that's what people around here refer to it as. I don't, I'm not hoity toity. All the rooms are small and have fireplaces but my great room is big & modern, that's where my kitchen is and a dining area as well as large open space with seating around the fireplace and lots of windows. The basement under the old part is stuck in the 70's, hideous furniture and all, it has a full bar with booze that is probably as old as I am. The former Mrs. Cowboy used to entertain down there, I rarely go into that part and it's been years since the last time.

It's charming and beautiful, yet eerie in an odd way. Which I think adds to the character of it. If it were overgrown and abandoned I could picture it being the yard of a haunted mansion in a scary movie.

Good job, old man. I planted two bottle brush trees once and they both died. Kind of sucked because I put a lot of work into it and was picturing them growing tall and majestic, instead they just rotted away.

It's only 6:30 and basically dark outdoors. I like it! The time changes in about 15 days.

You have a great outlook on an otherwise inevitable hibernation. I kinda like winter at the beginning myself but in the back of my mind I know when the Superbowl is over it becomes a very long wait until Spring.

Don't get me wrong, Winter often feels too long for me too. I think February is the month that lasts 8 weeks, it's just that I'm always ready for longer days much in the same way I'm always ready for shorter days when Fall rolls around. I really do love the change of seasons, I wouldn't want it any other way.
