Ramsey and I used to do the Carlton every Friday, it made us laugh. It was always fun but it began to annoy people which made us laugh too so we kept on doing it. People got pissy!   113

It's not unusual. It happens everyday. No matter what you say.

I went out and grabbed a few drinks and prepped by buying 2 growlers so I can spend tomorrow drinking beer, watching football with cousin Mel, and some poker.

Happy Thanksgiving Sally, I bet your dinner will be great!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I would be having deer instead of turkey today, but someone else picked it up after it ran in front of my car. : (
My vehicle is at the shop and I drove a nice new loaner. Not looking forward to the drive home however. I just wanted to stay put. I have never had a deer jump out in front of me like that before. There were 2 of them and there wasn't anything I could do. It could have been worse, I am thankful that it wasn't.
To be a feminist is simply to believe that everybody should be treated equally, regardless of sex. It means you think that there should be equality of the sexes economically, socially, politically and personally. When you put it like that, it’s surely difficult for anybody to deny being a feminist. But for such a simple concept, it is often dramatically misunderstood.

Happy Thanksgiving to all !

LoveChild, I had the same thing happen with a deer:

Dusk on Memorial Day 2011, traveling east on I94 just west of Madison, WI. It’s a busy stretch, 3 lanes wide, and everyone doing at least 70. We were on our way to Milwaukee.

I’m in the far left lane, and I look up ahead into one of the spaces in the median (I’m assuming it’s there for police and emergency vehicles to turn around).

There’s a deer kind of hopping in this space.

Instantly I wonder to myself, “How did he get there? He’d have had to cross three lanes without getting hit.”

In the next second, as I’m watching him, I begin to brace, as I just know he’s going to jump in front of my car.

Sure enough, jumps right out in front of us.

Impact is square in the grill of our 2005 Chev Tahoe (glad it was a full size SUV) and he slides under the truck, back into the other traffic.

From the moment I noticed him, until impact, couldn’t have been more than 3 seconds.

Airbags deploy, our grill is toast, I lose power, but somehow am able to make it to the shoulder without getting hit by anyone.

The carcass is back in the middle lane, and there are no subsequent accidents as people try to avoid it.

All fluids ran out of our vehicle, and we have no power, so now we’re sitting on the shoulder as semis are blowing by at 70-75mph.

Took the Hwy Patrol forever to respond to our call, and a wrecker arrived probably 30 mins after impact.

My wife still says those are the scariest moments of her life, as traffic blows by at such speeds.

Anyway, glad you’re out of your incident with just damage to your car.

I hit a deer just standing in the middle of the road a few years ago. Was going too fast and was distracted by singing along to Xmas songs on the radio.

Thanks MS, that is pretty much how mine went, surprisingly. The thing that sucked was being on the mountain pass and no cell service. I had to rely on the good will of other drivers and DOT.

Washington, D.C.
October 3, 1863

By the President of the United States of America.

A Proclamation.

The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God. In the midst of a civil war of unequaled magnitude and severity, which has sometimes seemed to foreign States to invite and to provoke their aggression, peace has been preserved with all nations, order has been maintained, the laws have been respected and obeyed, and harmony has prevailed everywhere except in the theatre of military conflict; while that theatre has been greatly contracted by the advancing armies and navies of the Union. Needful diversions of wealth and of strength from the fields of peaceful industry to the national defence, have not arrested the plough, the shuttle or the ship; the axe has enlarged the borders of our settlements, and the mines, as well of iron and coal as of the precious metals, have yielded even more abundantly than heretofore. Population has steadily increased, notwithstanding the waste that has been made in the camp, the siege and the battle-field; and the country, rejoicing in the consiousness of augmented strength and vigor, is permitted to expect continuance of years with large increase of freedom. No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy. It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and one voice by the whole American People. I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens. And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings, they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquillity and Union.

In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the United States to be affixed.
Done at the City of Washington, this Third day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, and of the Independence of the Unites States the Eighty-eighth.

No. The rabbit decapitation happened 20 years ago when I was mowing the lawn.

That's awful! I'm so glad you're alright, sucks about your car, but you are more important and you're absolutely right, it could have been so much worse. You have much to be thankful for.
