Swift Senate action on a mammoth $2 trillion rescue package hit a speed bump Wednesday amid opposition from a small group of GOP senators, throwing up a last-minute hurdle as congressional leaders rush to finalize the bipartisan deal.

Senate leaders were hoping to vote Wednesday afternoon on the legislation, which will deliver much-needed emergency aid to nearly every sector across the U.S., including $1,200 checks to many Americans. But that timeline continued to slip as the day dragged into the evening with Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Tim Scott (R-S.C.), Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) and Rick Scott (R-Fla.) opposing speedy consideration of the measure over concerns it would encourage employees to be laid off instead of working.

...and they're trying like hell to avoid oversight. Man. Anything to avoid accountability.

I don't like them paying out 100% of pay, it should be 60-80% if people make just as much out of work as they do working they will take it to the limit. That's why unemployment payouts are less than what a person makes full time. The incentive to get back to work does not come up with 100% pay.

They are right, employers would rather the government pay their workers and would lay off the most non productive people. Many companies would rather lay off people than keep them on the payroll. Its a micro management issue. But what can they do? It's the government that makes thing hard.

It looks like Pelosi backed out her wish list. This is what they always try and do, add pork. I'm not saying the Republicans don't but this is a bad time for them to play politics with a bill that is only out to try and alleviate the down turn. 
Voters will remember this as November gets closer and Trump handles this better than Biden or Sanders ever would, both of them are blithering idiots when a crisis is at hand and it shows. 

I think this is way to much money at any rate.

I saw some stupid ass meme about how this bill would give millions to NYC museums, the Kennedy center,  Migrant refugees, sanctuary cities Etc.   I haven't had time to sit down and look it up, so I have know clue how true it is, but I am curious as to how giving millions to museums would help people out.

I've heard about the Kennedy center thing, a Democrat sticking point. Trumps businesses will not get bailout money but neither will any Senators or Representatives either. None of them should get a dime. I'm happy about that. I can see museums getting money to pay their people and the higher paid ones will not get anything, This is looking better the more I see of it. I could post a PDF but will wait until it's finalized.

I'm actually curious as to what voters will remember in November.

I'm pretty sure millions of people aren't going to forget fearing for their lives after the POTUS spent weeks denying there was anything to be concerned about.

I was positive he'd make it again until now.

I'm not so sure about that,   he if, I in fact,  we can get back to 'normal ' before November,  I think people may give Trump credit for that.  I don't think that he's done anything to help,   but I  remember people reelecting W, because he brought back normal after ⁹⁄₁₁

$0 for millions facing eviction
