Right dude !!!
I am very interesting which you are talking !!!
Are you all _____ ?????
Wait a minute, I wanted newbies to only be able to post in their own threads ... I am not sure there is such a setting. I have to look into that.
There is a setting called "Can post replies to threads?" but I am afraid if I uncheck that, they can't reply to their own. I will have to test.

::lol:: Sorry.
Frank, you uncheck it for all forums except the one you want them to be able to reply in. Its in the forum permissions for EACH forum. Other than that I'm assuming you have group permissions on. But regardless, will you block that fucking bot before he pisses me off.

I have his usergroup set to only see and post in this one newbie forum, that is not the issue. The issue is his ability to reply in other threads besides the one he created. In the previous software, you could limit a usergroup to having access to not just one forum only, but you could make it so they could ONLY reply to THEIR own thread. I was just hoping that option was in MyBB. Otherwise, a newbie can post in their own thread and any other thread that is Open within this same Newbie forum he has access to.
He was banned earlier.

Frank, we went through this when I held your hand Monday. .....
Forums > scroll to the specific forum you want them to post in > scroll to the bottom where permissions are > at the end of EACH GROUP ROW hit Set Permissions.
In here you will get a more detailed set of permissions for EACH GROUP.
Make sure you hit the radio button at the top saying "Custom Permissions" and continue down the list.
Hit save. You will be brought back to the list of groups and permissions.
Do this for EVERY group.
HIT SAVE after each one.
Once you have gone down the list and are satisfied with your settings for this particular forum, HIT SAVE at the bottom.
Repeat this on EVERY FORUM.
Don't worry Frank, she had to hit me over the hid with the "extra" permissions section too. but only once you air headed brain dead pseudo Sicilian

I think you are not really paying attention to what I said. Second time in two days, woman. I already know about the "Can post replies?" option - what I expressed was that I believe it means posting replies within that forum in general, not a way to get them to be able to reply within the threads they created themselves, only. If you know of such an option or believe that "Can post replies?" option limits them to threads they created only, do tell.
WowClassic had a "Can reply to their thread only" type option. That is what I am looking for.

I believe I had already taken that section into account when I made my comments, though. I am looking for a way to limit users to being able to reply to threads in threads they created. It's not big deal, I can just lock the other threads, but was curious because it would be convenient.

I have not seen such a setting in MyBB. You'd have to do it the way I said.
We also discussed this at length during the set up process saying you'll need to delete the posts they put up when you see them happen.
Maybe a moderator in newbie hell just for this purpose will help your babysitting duties there?
I'm pretty sure you can limit their group to not being able to reply in any other forum, but I don't think you can limit them to reply in others' threads in that forum... let me look at some settings.

And that would be a no. Hmm. Interesting...

I was thinking locking older newbie threads but then I thought about how that's not such a great thing ... somtimes people like to bump older stuff and comment for fun. People hated Sinister doing that, I think. I don't know, I can't remember.
I guess another option is limiting their posts per day but that has serious negatives as well. I guess I will just live with things as they are because it is not a big deal, really. As I learn the software I can change my mind.
As a sidenote, if anyone ever comes across an older newbie thread they want unlocked just let me know. Unless Ant knows of a way to open all threads in a forum at once! I wouldn't be shocked if there was a setting for it, this software is pretty damn fancy. There might be an SQL for that type of thing, too.

Yeah, didn't think so only cause I had kept an eye out for it during the whole permissions bs at set up. I guess we have a rare case of a wowbb ability not being available, heh.
Well, honestly I'm surprised MyBB doesn't have it since it is a fairly common setting "Allow Replies In Own Threads Only" appears in various forms in phpBB2/3, vBulletin, YaBB... (can you tell I'm on too damned many forums?)
Oh well, I'm making a suggestion for it for MyBB 2.0
