Everyone involved has known this day has been coming since February of 2020. Everyone had time to leave. I haven't been watching much news because every goddamn broadcast is filled with pearl clutching morons. I can hardly stand it. None of this was a secret. It's been known for 18 months.

The Taliban is less foreign to them than we are. That's the bottom line. We should either have negotiated a peace with them -- and an orderly transfer of power -- or stayed there in perpetuity. A 300,000 man army with state-of-the-art equipment is worth squat if it doesn't have the will to fight. Expecting that they would hold the line in the face of fearless, battle-hardened warriors, is shockingly naive, and leaves me thinking that our own military is pretty damn worthless.
