I hear you. It's extremely stressful to have this being introduced when the world is already a chaotic mess.

We have the best Aye Eye. Some say its even the greatest. A man came up to me, a big strong man and said, "sir don't let them take away our Aye Eye, we have the best Aye Eye" and he was even crying. I could see a little tear in his eye. You can't see that with aye eye. No, you can't. But A. I.  I, I like to call it, like Ivanka, and Iyanla, both start with I's and they are very smart, but not as smart as me. A. I. will take the place of many jobs so people won't have to work any more, people like you and me. But not me because I will always work. I will always work for you the people, not like some of those lazy presidents, like O Bah Ma. He was a lazy president, didnt work as hard as me, but I will work harder, even with A. I.
Here in America we are going to be the smartest, the bravest, the strongest, and I, A. I. am going to make America great again! CAn't spell America without A. I.

Tuesday, I attended an event that included dinner.  My assigned table included a physician and his ASU, computer science professor, spouse.

We were chatting about a Raspberry Pi I recently purchased (for a SDR project) and one thing led to another . . . then finally on AI.

Me being me, I asked her opinion regarding the current AI philosophies being disseminated to the public.  She spoke, eloquently, concisely and with minimal techno-speak.

For this specific post, I want to share her personal choice regarding AI:  She absolutely refuses and will not to get into an fully autonomous driving vehicle!

(And she is not afraid that AI will become Skynet and take over the world.  She is pro AI.)

I hadn't considered AI in that particular capacity.  Now I am left wondering:

"Is a drivers license required if you own a fully-autonomous vehicle? "   AND  "If the fully autonomous vehicle breaks a traffic law, who gets the ticket? "

Those questions are probably best suited for the Random Thoughts thread.

I don't see plebs owning self-driving vehicles. Bait and switches are becoming the norm with hardware functionality, with access to functions consumers are led to believe are part of the hardware, being conditional on paying subscription fees.

File this under "you will own nothing, and you will be happy".

Ohh-Kaay . . . she was talking about Waymo (Phoenix was a test area (and now a market) starting a few years back) and my thoughts were just random.

Wasn't really going towards the whole New World Order tie-in.

However, her husband, the physician, praised AI in ONE specific aspect.

Medical Digital Imaging and AI's ability to read and interpret the images.

He believes AI virtually eliminates the possibility of "Change Bias" that is common with radiologists, doctors and X-Ray techs.

Search "Gorilla in the X-Ray" for the frightening professional "miss".  (He pulled it up on his phone for me to read.)

Again . . . like autonomous vehicles . . . never even considered medical digital imaging as a major consideration for AI.

I would never be a passenger in an autonomous vehicle.

There's no end to the theoretical benefits of strong AI, but what are the chances that people with vested interests would program it to be universally beneficial?

As best I can see, AI's primary purpose is to achieve a "net-zero" carbon footprint by absorbing human capital into a synthetic architecture that's probably more efficient by several orders of magnitude. Is this being done to save the planet? Do pedophiles love children? Of course not. It's being done because the people who've gained control of this world don't want to share it's resources with the masses.

I think there's serious environmental degradation in this world, I just don't see any possibility at all that psychopaths are concerned for anyone other than themselves. "Net-zero", IMO, is code for the elimination of roughly 90% of the human footprint, because humans can't survive under the imposition of such constraints. And just as it's always been, these rules will apply only to those who don't have "preferred" status.

I don't fancy myself a card-carrying member of the 1%. Do you?

No, RC . . . I don't consider myself one of the 1% . . . financial or outlaw biker.

I was merely posting a few things, about AI, from fellow dinner table guests, at an event.  Just sharing a little dinner/dessert conversation from educated and interesting people, in Mock.  Nothing nefarious and nothing more.

Let's wait and see what comes out of the global architects' Bilderberg meeting, being hosted exclusively for all of the top AI execs.

AI movers and shakers, at a secretive meeting discussing AI . . . why would that cause anyone concern?

(BTW - Did you see the gorilla?)

I like that question because it references observation, as does the angry gorilla.

How is it that glaring incongruencies -- such as movers and shakers getting things done behind closed doors, and the pretense of democracy -- escape the notice of people that are considered to be highly educated? Let me know if you have any thoughts on that.

BTW, did you witness anyone delving into politics at the event or the social gatherings? Be surprised if you did.

Biases obstruct observation, and that's precisely why ancient philosophy gave rise to scientific methodology, so they can be identified and corrected. Why has that gone by the wayside? Because people with vested interests don't benefit from a system that's designed to correct for bias. What they value is obedience, which has the opposite effect and serves to reinforce bias. Obedience is a positive feedback loop that reinforces corruption.

To answer your question, I assume it is the same phenomenon that prevented 83% of the radiologists from seeing the Gorilla.   hah

I hope your recognized my sarcasm when I stated why would that cause anyone concern.

What causes me concern is the "Average Joe" who turns a blind-eye and gives it no thought.  The media, too.

Or maybe the "Average Joe" is the one suffering from "Inattentional Bias" (which is the fancy term for Change Bias theory).

I do know when you keep people distracted or keep them so overloaded, often with "fears", they are unable to focus their attention elsewhere or are unable to function . . . and then willingly embrace any solution offering the least effort or resistance on their part . . . without questioning.

"Make it stop!  Make it go away!  Hurry!".

It works for "wants and needs", too.

Ive watched all the Aircrash investigation programmes, you need to do that to get an insight into AI, like the Duchess, i wont get into an driverless car. Sometimes turning it off and back on is needed, even in a plane, as you go under the wheels of a truck. There is a word for it backing itself up on itself.

Because AI is so complex, even the slightest thing wrong can cause a crash or bring a plane down.

Hmm.

No one knows what consciousness is, but whatever it is (as no one knows), AI doesn't have that thing that no one knows what it is.

A ten year old would win against AI.   Yet . . . AI is so complex.

Wow, Piggy!  Such depth!  Such insight!  Such thoughtless contradictory drivel!

So inspiring!   hah

Here is the power of AI. Having watched all the aircrash programmes , if a fault comes up on the flight deck pilots generally ignore it because they know its wrong. A pilot flying a Portuguese plane from the USA to Portugal had a warning that fuel was leaking, he ignored it. Then he decided to pump fuel from one wing to the other to save fuel, the problem was that he pumped fuel into the wing that was leaking.

Eventually he calculated that he was coming up short, but could make a small island with a runway that was too short. He had to land, and the only thing that prevented the plane going over a cliff into the water was that the tyres burst putting sufficient drag on the plane.

He had run out of fuel, and had glided to the island, a record distance, and was given an award for doing so. AI is not trusted and is frequently wrong.

It just complicates everything, but it is helpful in a limited way, but to put trust in it is utterly mad.
