Ant, Lumpy has no deductions. No kids, no house. That is what stinks when you have no deductions - you get a shitty refund. I usually get back about $4k from Federal and $1500 from State. It's a nice payday!!

I have to claim zero , single and pay an extra fifty bucks a week just to keep from having to pay at the end of the year.
it will cost me 75 a week on top this year if things go as they appear.

Taxes suck no matter how you look at it. I claim single, one. But I have the house and daycare and I deduct one of the kids. The Ex-hole deducts the other one.

I was getting between 4 and 5 grand a year back for years. Then last year I couldn't claim anything since my kids are grown and got back $300. Talk about a shocker.
To make it worse, I thought I was claiming 0 last year and found out on my paycheck today that I claimed 1 all year...FUCK!!!... another lousy refund on the way for this year. It's been changed to 0 as of today.

Would you rather get a little more in your check each week or a bigger refund? I like the big refund because it's like a bonus. I don't notice a little more in the check each week.

I hear that. I usually have my taxes done and the refund in the bank by the end of February.
You know what I hate? Those commercials for those places where you can get a "loan" on your refund? They rape the shit outta you in fees. File online and get direct deposit and you have your refund in about two weeks. If you are broke and need the refund, two weeks isn't going to make that much difference. And the amount you lose in fees isn't worth it.

I will make sure I let my brother know that he is not managing my money correctly. I guess that is why he lives in a big house that is paid off and can pay cash for his son to attend Alabama at $26k a year.
ROLL TIDE!! I trust him with my life and MY money.
I like the refund because I use it every year to do a project on the house. Last year it was wood floors in the LR and DR. And new tile in the kitchen. This year I am using it for smaller projects like painting and redoing the boys bedrooms. Possibly new carpet in their rooms too.

I stand by my comments. Someone else doing the work you should do because you are either too lazy or ignorant to do it yourself fits right in with my comments if you read them again. How well someone else handles money has nothing to do with your personal habits and discipline.

I admit I like to spend. So what? My brother has a knack for making investments so of course I let him handle it. I don't say here have my checkbook and make my car payment for me jackass.
