RE: Presidential race 2016 - HairOfTheDog - 06-10-2016

I get what you're saying, Gunnar.

But, Donovan's not convinced that we're fucked ten ways from Sunday regardless of the general election outcome. You are. That makes you a hopeless "Gloom". And, it makes Donovan a potential "DOOM" with a good chance of not feeling fucked ten ways from Sunday, depending on the outcome of the election.

Your gloomy outlook is apparently not based on a serious concern that Clinton, if elected, will have the code for nukes or that she'll kill Americans. I understand that -- she hasn't:

-threatened to revoke birth right citizenship and deport Americans,

-pledged to bomb the hell out of terrorist footholds populated by civilians,

-promised to block all followers (initially including Americans) of a certain religion from entering or reentering the United States legally,

-advised her supporters to knock the crap outta American protesters,

-threatened to limit the freedom of American press when it's unfavorable to her,

-proclaimed that she would order the American military to kill the families of suspected terrorists in defiance of international law,

-advocated for more use of the most extreme torture at the hands of Americans,

-tried to use her political influence to intimidate the U.S. federal judiciary,

-claimed that natural born Americans whose parents immigrated decades ago are less capable of doing their jobs than other Americans, etc..

Trump has done all those things, leading more than a few very experienced and smart political analysts and historians to share Donovan's concern that Donald Trump mirrors authoritarians and dictators who ultimately killed their own people.

RE: Presidential race 2016 - HairOfTheDog - 06-10-2016

I know that you, Gunnar, and a fair number of other Americans disagree and think Trump's just a harmless, inexperienced, entertaining, lying, blowhard who you'd rather see in one of the most powerful positions in the world than a qualified person who sometimes lies to promote her own self-interests.

I don't know who's right about whether Trump is simply a huge joke, or if he instead means what he says and would truly be inclined to order the killing and/or repression of people in ways that are illegal and/or unconstitutional.

I hope we don't find out. But, I'm not losing sleep over it.

It bothers me that some of my people think this is preferable to Hillary. I'm speaking to you, FQ2. I'm afraid you've been brainwashed. Come to my farm, you darling girl and I'll make arrangements for an exorcism.

RE: Presidential race 2016 - Donovan - 06-10-2016

I think it's funny that the DNC selecting the obviously most qualified candidate and every single measure from individual voters to electoral college to whatever measure you want to consider supporting that selection, is somehow evidence of a broken system. Trump is evidence of a broken system in that he was able to con his way past the usual checks and balances by relying on the especially stupid and bigoted portion of our country. Hillary did exactly what one might expect for the most powerful office in this or most other countries: she made it clear she wanted the job and set about building an impressive resume in order to get it. Took her decades, an accomplishment that in any other field would be impressive and more than exemplary. But somehow, in this bizarro world, the orange snake oil salesman is seen as the guy who will fix things. Incroyable!

RE: Presidential race 2016 - HairOfTheDog - 06-10-2016

That list was off the top of my head.

I left out one of Trump's comments that's more concerning in context with the other comments, "I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose voters."

That's what he told thousands of his supporters at a rally, and they all cheered.

I remember that! I also recall one of his rallies where a heckler was being removed and he said, "don't hurt 'em, don't hurt 'em" and followed it up with, "gotta say that for the cameras". That may not be verbatim but it is the gist of his comment.

RE: Presidential race 2016 - Duchess - 06-10-2016

What do y'all make of this?

There does not seem to be any mention of Donald Trump on the official Republican Party website, gop.com. Hillary is there. Bernie is there. George H.W.Bush is there. Reagan is there. Reagan/Bush. Lincoln is there. No Trump anywhere. Not on the blog, signups. Not anywhere that I could find.

Those are someone elses words, not mine.

Donald is using a teleprompter again. He is as stiff as a board. Hahaha. He's jerking around like a puppet on strings. It's kinda wild to see.

RE: Presidential race 2016 - HairOfTheDog - 06-15-2016

I wouldn't put much stock in that internet survey poll, FU.

The latest credible/professional polls (where people can't vote multiple times via internet), have Clinton ahead by 6 to 12 points over Trump. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2016/president/2016_presidential_race.html

Some of them were conducted before the Orlando terror attack, however, so it's possible that the next professional polls will show Trump's percentage increasing.

I get a kick out of watching some of these.

RE: Presidential race 2016 - Maggot - 06-15-2016

If I polled a flock of seagulls how many would say they adored McDonalds French fries? And would fight beak and feathers over just one.

Three out of 4 seagulls said they would fight over just 1 McDonnalds French fry. The 4th couldn't be reached because , He ran, he ran so far away, he just ran, he ran all night and day .

I guess Donald Trump is gonna have to give up on his idea of getting self-made billionaire Oprah Winfrey to run as his VP. Oprah, who supported Barack Obama in 2008, has just endorsed Hillary Clinton.

Thank gawd. I hate to think I'd lose any respect for Oprah. hah

RE: Presidential race 2016 - Maggot - 06-16-2016

She would have been ducking bullets with Hillary in a war zone if it wasn't for that darned scheduling conflict.

RE: Presidential race 2016 - Donovan - 06-17-2016

I find Trump supporters making sport of anyone else's integrity to be ironically hilarious.

I heard the FBI will be indicting Hillary.

That'll be a problem.
