Makes sense, but a lot of people just vote their party and voting for who you like can be dangerous as well because who you see isn't really who they are. Just one man's opinion.

I share it. There's no way in hell that the face they put on for us is who they are. I will never believe that what you see, is what you get.

That made me think about all the pervs in DC. You know the ones, they get caught in airport bathrooms being vulgar or someone else is caught soliciting monkey sex.

RE: Presidential race 2016 - HairOfTheDog - 08-07-2015

You never know what's in anybody's head or all of the secrets they hold, politicians or not. Even more so for people we don't know on a personal level.

But, in my opinion, you can tell some things about a person's character by paying attention not only to what they say, but also how they say it and what they don't say.

Trump, for example, is putting out a "no bullshit, tell-it-like-it-is" persona. I don't believe he means everything he says though -- some of it is for reaction and designed to elicit a certain response. He's often calculated.

Speaking of Trump...

Last night, I think Donald did a poor job when confronted with his multiple bankruptcies, his many donations to Democrats, his previous "very pro-choice" stance, and so on.

As for the donations, he said he donated to people like Hillary Clinton because he wanted favors from them. He wanted favors from virtually everyone, so he donated to virtually everyone. He contends everyone can be bought.

When asked what he got in return from Clinton, he had nothing really. He said he told her he wanted her to attend his 2005 wedding and, because of his donations, she was obligated to do so.

Trump did manage a jab at Clinton's charity though. He said he donated to it, but he didn't expect that donations would be spent on private jet travel. Meh.

I think that was his most brilliant moment in the debate. "Those people aren't babies!" hah He's right too. Using bankruptcy laws is something every multi-billion dollar company does. Stating that he bought government favors made all of the people on the Trump fence jump to his side.

I'm not gonna keep pointing out how it's impossible for you to know what "everyone" and "all of the people" think, as you often claim Gunnar.

You're worse than MS in his speak-for-everyone days. He's been pretty quiet lately, come to think of it. Wonder what kind of trouble or soul-searching he's up to these days.

Anyway.............I don't think the multiple bankruptcies and divorces hurt Donald Trump either. Anyone who supports him already knows about them and doesn't care. Those (common) business and personal types of failures won't win him votes, but they won't lose him any either, in my opinion.

But, the fact that he claims to have donated to politicians so they'd be beholden to him, and claims to have gotten favors in return, is not something that I think draws all of the people who were on the fence over to Donald's side. Plus, he's not provided any evidence of favors he got in return, except "wedding attendance". Really? That's desperate poser shit (I don't believe that's why he invited the Clintons anyway, but it was better for him politically to say that than just admitting that he likes/liked the Clintons).

He's a character.

Call me psychic then, because he's still on top of the polls. He surely lost some female votes last night. I read somewhere he dropped 10 points and yet he's still leading. He made up the ground somewhere.

RE: Presidential race 2016 - HairOfTheDog - 08-07-2015

You're clearly not psychic Gunnar. You're more presumptuous and often confuse causes with effects.

Furthermore, your math is flat and flawed. You forgot to consider variables when trying to position your baseless and unlikely claim (about favor-buying winning over all the fence-sitters) as the driver in your equation.

Trump had about a ten point lead going into the debate. If he did in fact lose ten points, and Bush also lost some points, and nobody else gained more than 6 points, Trump would still be in the lead.

The Drudge report is showing a 44.88% in favor of Trump right now for last night's debate. That's not MY "flat and flawed math." hah

RE: Presidential race 2016 - HairOfTheDog - 08-07-2015

You claimed that Trump was down 10 points but still had the lead, cabron.

Then, you contended that must be due to him "gaining ground" due to his favor-buying claim.

So, yeah, that was in fact your flat and flawed math at work, regardless of what new/different claims or sources you're tossing about now.

Hey HotD... no real soul searching going on or any trouble either.

I'm having a hard time jumping into Presidential talk.

My mood is often tied to my sports teams, and in this case, my Twins have gone into a funk since the All-Star break and so I'm a little down too.

My summer has been great, as I've been getting back into very good shape, playing golf, drinking to excess (at times) and I'm as tan as I've ever been.

BTW, I'm really working hard here to write a post where I avoid any sexual commentary aimed in your direction.

RE: Presidential race 2016 - Duchess - 08-07-2015

It's being reported that last night's debate drew a record audience. Twenty four million to be exact.

RE: Presidential race 2016 - HairOfTheDog - 08-07-2015

I'm glad your summer is going great and also glad to see you here, MS.

Sorry to hear about your funky Twins, but snap out of it and get crackin' on your post count! Smiley_emoticons_smile

P.s. thank you for not offering to show me your awesome tan lines or anything, you big stud. Much appreciated.

I am, however, contemplating a nice, juicy bet between the two of us for NFL Week 1 when Minny heads to SF to tangle with your Niners.

RE: Presidential race 2016 - HairOfTheDog - 08-07-2015

My Niners are illin'. No doubt.

But, I'd still bet on them.

Hit me up in the NFL thread when you come up with something nice and juicy.

I said I read somewhere he dropped 10 points Vieaja. hah

RE: Presidential race 2016 - username - 08-07-2015

I don't think Trump made friends with Megyn Kelly:

"Honestly Megyn, if you don't like it, I'm sorry. I've been very nice to you although I could probably maybe not be, based on the way you have treated me," he said.

I kept getting interrupted so I only saw bits and pieces. HotD, whomever you quoted above about the problems with unions....Love3 I didn't combine all the different stances though. That same person may be in favor of banning all abortions or have some other extreme opinions that I disagree with.

I wish I (we) could build the perfect candidate. There are definitely aspects of Trump that I would include in my ideal candidate.

"...I don't frankly have time for total political correctness". 17

Yeah, puto, then you used what you read as a factual baseline to support your illogical previous contention.

And, by the way, whether the 10 point drop is true or not has no bearing on your flawed and flat mathematical conclusion, nor does it bolster or detract from your baseless favor-buying correlation.

But keeping running in circles spin master.

It was Jeb Bush who mentioned that getting around the teachers' union is a necessity to building a high-standard educational curriculum (paraphrase).

Yes, he de-funded Planned Parenthood when he was governor of Florida, which is a major mark against him in my book. But, as far as I know, every Republican candidate favors a ban on all abortions and de-funding PP, regardless of the fact that the de-funding would deprive millions of women of quality female health services.
