RE: The 2025 Trivial Drivel Thread - username - 01-02-2025 Altho looking at it differently I must have gotten under his skin pretty well for him to drag a family member of mine into the mix. Hmmmm. Maybe I haven’t totally lost my touch. Mark: Clang, you're a round fruit. RE: The 2025 Trivial Drivel Thread - MirahM - 01-05-2025 Turn it upside down, make it low for a cat scratcher. Not that kind of cat Mark. RE: The 2025 Trivial Drivel Thread - username - 01-06-2025 Did you know… I was reading some trivia from the NYT’s about 2024. For some Avatar movie she was in, Kate Winslet held her breath underwater for over 7 minutes (many Navy Seals struggle to reach the 3 minute mark) AND…. Scientists in Washington State estimate that crows can hold a grudge for up to 17 years. I know a woman who lives in Washington State and her cat once went after a crow (I don’t recall details). She typically keeps him indoors or walks him in a backpack or on a leash and she’s told me frequently crows swoop in on them so I tend to believe that. Don’t piss off crows. RE: The 2025 Trivial Drivel Thread - Duchess - 01-07-2025 I can hardly believe the amount of credit card debt that some people have. I'd wanna drop dead. RE: The 2025 Trivial Drivel Thread - Duchess - 01-07-2025 ...and I can hardly believe how much butter & salt some people use too! I'm referring only to chefs I see on the Food Network because they are the only cooks I see. I opened a credit card for the first time during the pandemic. I don't have a lot of debt, but it is more than I am comfortable with. You are a responsible person, try to view it as building credit, which is important to do. But pay the damn thing off!! Every month! Easier said than done (BTDT) but the interest rate on cc bills? It’s insane. We pay ours off now every cycle and insist our adult kids do the same (my daughter isn’t listening too well). Thankfully she was only given a $2k limit on hers. I'm referring only to chefs I see on the Food Network because they are the only cooks I see. I read a NYT’s article about 15 healthy/easy dinners to make in 2025. Not one of them actually looked easy but worse, there wasn’t one that appealed to me. Tofu with….blurg. Salmon with…blurg. I’m not a fan of seafood and while I don’t dislike cooked Tofu, I don’t like it enough to want to cook it myself. I’m a mid western eater from way back (some poultry, less often red meat, with a carb and greens). If I try to change that up in 2025, I could see incorporating more Mediterranean style foods but that’s about as far as I’m willing to go. RE: The 2025 Trivial Drivel Thread - MirahM - 01-07-2025 I've used more salt and butter in the last few years than I ever used to. I used to avoid putting salt in anything-including baking, but now I use it as the recipe calls for it. Sometimes I substitute applesauce for butter in cookies and muffins. I love seafood. Can't eat tofu because of the soy. I grew up meat and potatoes also, but with a mix since my father was in the military and was stationed in Japan. We also grew up eating stir fry and fried rice which I love. I am trying to get all of my debt paid off. I'm not making much extra $ where I live. I have to start asking myself if the "experience of living in the wilderness" is worth the financial drain. |
