Same thing with my first dog ... he will guard it like you wouldn't believe ... that is why we stopped giving it to him. He just growls and looks for a fight. It makes him a little nuts.

sally Wrote:He's cute. My dogs wont eat the raw hide bones either. They play this game where they bury them in the couch cushions and then guard them. Then when one dogs gets up the other one runs over there and grabs it real quick. I eventually have to take them away because the game turns into a fight. They will eat the pig ears though.
Those deer hooves or whatever they are were popular with a dog we had, but they end up stinking to high heaven.

I missed his name.
He is gorgeous109
You did a wonderful thing MF i hope he settles in soon enough .

Don't you just want to feed him up . I love all dogs but i think i'd find it hard not to just want to fatten him up.

Find yourself a copy of this book:

All About the Greyhound - by: Anne Rollins

I have a copy and it's full of useful info on this breed of dog.

Amazon has a link to a very expensive copy and no pic.

#'s 7,8,9 at Barnes and Noble are used copies too but at least they're cheaper. Maybe locally you can find one.

Thanks ... and yes, we are going to Italianize him up a bit. He doesn't like to be alone so if I go downstairs he yelps at me after a while since he is still too chicken to tackle the stairs.

- The Antagonist - 07-17-2009

That's the book! Grab it Frank.

Again, they don't do stairs well. If you're going to want him to use stairs, you need to be there with him. I can't tell you how many times my greyhound tumbled down the stairs. Same for my Borzoi. They're long torso dogs and they just don't balance well on them. I never let my dog use the stairs unaided.

And don't let him get fat!!! It will bring on stress issues and heat problems for him. These dogs run "hot" as it is due to the dense muscle mass.

Do like I told you or I'll come to your house and smack you on the snoot with a rolled up newspaper.

Did you re-name him Guido?

- LuMPyPussy - 07-17-2009

Gonna put hair gel on him?

- The Antagonist - 07-17-2009

He could wear a gold chain - they make doggie bling you know.

Didn't I promise you a leash for him? And special collar?

- Middle Finger - 07-17-2009

Hah hah, guido. His name is Pepe, damn it.

Included in the "price" was a leash and collar, but thanks!

- Maggot - 07-17-2009

Play tug-O-war with him! I love that game! Smiley_emoticons_biggrin

Whoa, that's a pretty cool looking dag. I bet it's fun to walk (more like run)

EDIT: I'd definitely rescue something like that

I wish I could rescue all the needy animals...They all deserve to have a family that loves them.

Even jackboots' snakes?

- The Antagonist - 07-18-2009

Dammit Frank, give me the dog's neck measurement - you can't have HIM walking around in that pink collar.

Besides, I make special cool looking collars specifically made to greyhounds and enhance their graceful necks.

Mock2zuma - they are quite laid back and walk like gentleman and ladies on the leash.

Now you got me wanting to adopt another one. I can't... my dogs will kill it and I just don't have the room.

Wait what? The snakes or the dags?

I'll put you on a leash ::stickout::

- The Antagonist - 07-18-2009

Dogs - not dags. Spell words correctly and stop sounding like an ignorant hillbilly.

You just try to put me on a leash. I dare you.
